What are the books I should start with to lore myself up about Space Wolves in the new time line? I'm not to sure about how the rules from the Vigilus event are right now. Is this something I should invest in? Or is there another way to get this lore like through a novel?

Thanks in advance!

While not a book, 1d4chan is a great way to get up to date with the lore of you enjoy the hyperboly style of writing. I enjoy reading 1d4chan to get the big picture then moving to more office sources for things I want more detail on.

Yeah I'm working my way through the wiki slowly. It is massive. But I was also looking for novels and other published lore from official sources

from how far back are you looking?

wrath of magnus to now?

From right before the Cicatrix Maledictum to now really. I'll look into older lore at a later date. But I want to come to terms with mainly how the Space Wolves were just prior to the Primaris arriving, how they received the arrival of Guilliman and the Primaris, and lastly how they are now. I'm starting up my Space Wolves in a few months and I will be going with Primaris only with the exception of Cyber/Fenrisian Wolves. I got a small glimpse of a Space Wolf Primaris from where I am in Dark Imperium so far. But a few lines from one character prior to meeting his chapter offers little information sadly. Though he was excited to jump into battle.

as a space wolf you need to know the name Brand Sabrewulf from Vigilus and the real life back story.

He was made to honor a young SW player who had terminal cancer.

The SW community was vocal about honoring him and GW obliged.

Very cool. Feel bad for the family. But hey. It is the little things. :biggrin.:

Looks like Ashes of Prospero is going to be 100% for me for sure. Looks like it is set after the TS invaded Fenris.

Books wise if you want stories only then:

Battle of the Fang/ War of the Fang.

Emperor's Gift

Lukas the Trickster

Blood of Asaheim

Prospero Burns

Ashes of Prospero.

Graphic novel;

Lone Wolves

Thank you! Stories is mainly what I'm looking for but it needs to current era. Working on building my Wolf Company "The Wolf Pack" and trying to come to terms with how the Space Wolves are reacting to the primaris and all of the current events. So far, Ashes of Prospero seems to have some good tidbits in it. :D

I think Ashes of Prospero, is about the only one to involve any mention of Primaris (maybe)

Battle of the Fang is either M32 or M35, cant remember, but the Space Wolves, especially Jarl Greyloc are absolutely bad-ass.

Blood of Asaheim is current as well, I think it ties in with Stormcaller... And shows how some Wolves might split from their GC

Lone Wolves is fairly current, sets Space Wolves against Tyranids

Emperors Gift rocks... From the viewpoint of The Grey Knights, but features Space Wolves heavily. Awesome cameo by Bjorn he Fell-Handed, and Grimnar shows just how amazing a Great Wolf/ Chapter Master should be

Prospero Burns is 30K, but still a brilliant read

I also liked how Battle of The Fang introduced a human element by giving us the Aett Guard and Kjaerls, so you could see the Wolves through their eyes too. And they are equal opportunity employers :biggrin.:

I also loved how the Underfang oozed character too. Bjorn also showed himself to be an absolute monster.

Plus the story is the flip-side of what the Wolves are usually about, being on the defensive in a siege situation... Another great thing is the characters it brings, because it is set earlier in the grimdarkness, there is no Ragnar, or Ulrik, Logan or Njal, so it introduces a whole new set of characters, like the crazy scout the iron priest etc. Bjorn is the only constant throughout
