Lvlivs
Hello, I want to start a tyranids army, always loved how they looked!! I was thinking of running a melee centric army and was wondering if some veterans could help me come up with a 2k point list to work with? All help is wanted and appreciated!! Thank you in advance! jbaeza94
Melee centric? Swarmlord, broodlord, and lots of stealers. Behemoth or kraken would he the best hive fleets for you. And in a second battalion of with 3 ripper swarms for objective deep striking, and maybe a malenthrope our neurothrope for HQ choices. If you got points left, dakafexes tychobi 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360473-starting-new-tyranids-army/#findComment-5444130 Share on other sites
spacepup
jbaeza, why go with dakafex over melee carinfex? I am also looking to build a melee tyranid list. And trying to get as much insight as possible. jbaeza94
Because you need some shooting, 24 shots bs3 on a moderately tough platform is not bad. T3 beware. Add acid maw instead if enhanced senses if you want good cc while being shooty. If you take no shooting, your opponent will have free reign over the board. spacepup 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360473-starting-new-tyranids-army/#findComment-5445136 Share on other sites

jbaeza94
Also, against vehicles, hive guard with impaler cannons are pretty good at high t. Ok range, but no line los required. If anything, you could add a kronos vanguard or spearhead detachment to get the most out of your stationary shooting. A cheap hq like a prime or zoan keeps the tax low Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360473-starting-new-tyranids-army/#findComment-5445374 Share on other sites
BolterZorro
With 3 battleforces, you have it (almost) all! This is a super good starting point (and a bargain). Unfortunatly, this was the fastest sold battleforce which is actually super hard to find (mostly out of stock) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360473-starting-new-tyranids-army/#findComment-5445629 Share on other sites
spacepup
I am going to be getting an army off a guy in my local group. It contains 60 termaguants, 48 hormogaunts, 18 warriors, 64 genestealers, and 7 carnifexes, and that's not even all of it. I have a broodlord and purchasing the apoc box with the 5 big monsters in it. I think I will be painting for a while. Guess I will be setting some units up with dakka. How hard will magnetizing the Tyrant be to switch to and from a Tyrant to a Swarmlord? Spacecow
Not that hard tbh. The body is pretty much the same. It’s just the four arm you’ll have to magnetise. spacepup 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360473-starting-new-tyranids-army/#findComment-5445774 Share on other sites
