Isn't that Arjac, or possibly Grimnar himself?

I actually think the idea of a designated Chapter Champion is totally counter to the Wolves - they would all be fighting in some way or vector to being the greatest champion/Lord of the Space Wolves.

Ohhh I didn't really mean it as give the Space Wolves a Chapter Champion. But I wanted to know if we had a unit on that power-level.

The Company and Chapter Champions are the Captain/Chapter Master's bodyguards- which is why Arjac used to be an upgrade to wolf guard squads instead of an independent character in his own right. Arjac's promotion to battle leader throws a wrench in that, though.

Arjac’s role was defined in the Champion’s of Fenris supplement. He’s Logan’s personal champion. Logan has a different Wolf Guard Battle Leader.

I’d have to read again if that duty is to act as a chapter champion for ceremonial purposes. If that’s the case I don’t think too many wolves would bother to challenge him for the honor. He’s really large.

Chapter Master / Great Wolf titles are interchangeable.

Logan is the Chapter Master as far as the rest of the Imperium knows currently.

Arjac is therefore the Chapter Champion.

The Wolves know better and are a warrior brotherhood that vies with each other in what is best described as coopetition.

So, if you "need" to know, Arjac. If you play Wolves, yours. Or at least, informally, yours; Arjac is still the only one the Imperium would recognize.

if you read ashes of prospero then arjac finally has some real competition

ashes of prospero isn't canon

How is that possible? It was published by Black Library.

It's considered "soft cannon" or something. Basically until it's in a codex it isn't cannon. The other Space Marine Conquest series (BA's Devastation 9f Baal, IF's Apocalypse, DA's War of Secrets) are referenced in their codex as events. Our codex does not reference anything in Ashes of Prospero.
