First_Among_Brothers
Where are the most-most-most updated points costs? I ask this noobish question because of some confusion approachinig list-building wtih so many books--so, Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw Drop Pod is 115 points in the _Age of Darkness Army List_ book, but only 100 points in the _Age of Darkness Legions_ book. Does this imply that the 115 supercedes the other (I don't see why, since both books are part of the same bundle purchasable on the FW site), or does it mean that the Anvillus is 100 for Sons of Horus and 115 for everyone else? Also, stuff like the termite or even the new sabre tank that came out as PDFs on the website (that are still available on the website)--should I go by the PDFs, or is there a unified list someplace with all of the 30k points values as up to date as possible? Aothaine
I would shoot Forgeworld a question on that just to be sure. But even in 40k point costs for different units and weapons can vary depending on updates and new codex releases with adjusted point values. Darkwrath121
It just comes down to finding the most recent incarnation of a unit's rules unfortunately. In the case of the Dreadclaw, it's the profile/points from the Drop Pod FAQ from early in the year. https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Horus-Heresy-Drop-Pods-Errata-v1.0.pdf Edited December 13, 2019 by Darkwrath121 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360567-where-to-find-updated-points-values/#findComment-5446422 Share on other sites
Imren
I use battlescribe and trust the producers that they update as per FAQs, new units and etc. Although there has been few point discrepancies I find that battlescribe is the most convenient effective basis for list building. The Ironic Warrior
As far as points go, the newest book/publication overrides the previous ones. Recent stuff is in this order (newest stuff first): - Sabre/Deredeo PDFs - Book 8, Malevolence - Heresy FAQs - Book 7, Inferno - Age of Darkness Army List - Book 6, Retribution I think that's accurate, I can't remember if book 6 came out before or after the Age of Darkness book, but I think it was before because it had the new Astartes units in it. The 100pt Dreadclaw is the old one for Sons of Horus, and the new one everyone has access to has replaced it at 115pts. The big way to tell is the old one technically didn't have inertial guidance but the new one does (not even joking, silly mistake right there) Hope that helps! That's good to know, however, when you create an army list, you will have units whose (newest) unit entries will be spread out among that list of publications and you will have to search and keep track where to find what unit's newest entry. battlescribe creators and administrators do that for you with references FW publications for your to trace the origin of the unit entry in battlescribe. So its is quite a efficient and trustworthy way of not only create army lists but also learn the newest rule set for each unit although it has happened that there been errors, but it is regularly updated. I know I might sound as if I'm affiliated with battlescribe, I'm not, I just find the product super useful and efficient. The Ironic Warrior
Yep, that is the issue. It's a pain in the ass but that's where referring to the newest books is super important. I love battlescribe and I use it all the time, but if ever I'm in doubt I just check the books. Always aim for the newest book or release, easy way to do that I've found is have the PDFs in a Dropbox and number them as they come out to keep them in release order. Really derpy way of doing it but it's gotten me by without issue for the last few years.
