Sword Brother Adelard
I somewhat surprised myself the other day by purchasing one of the new battle sister boxes. I hadn't pre-ordered, but, having an early finish, decided that if I could get one before they all went in my local stores, I would take that as a sign and buy it.Long story short, I tracked one down, after visiting three stores on opposite sides of the city.Since then, I have been working on the aesthetic and background. IRL I'm a barrister, (English for lawyer who works in courts wearing a silly wig, nothing to do with coffee), and I wanted to play around with some legal themes. Hence the name.of my custom order, The Order of the Divine Judgment.I knew it had to be a custom order, as I needed a scheme which was different from my Templars. Which of course share a very similar palette to most of the standard orders militant. Here's what I mocked up: I chose the blue as it is part of the heraldry of the legal society I am a member of, and hope to be able, in due course, to mock up some Pegasus transfers to match the society's symbol as well.Having read the lore in the codex, I think they will be a minor order from Ebon Chalice lineage, as those ladies sound a bit judicial in some of their efforts.I then set to work on doing some test models. Initially I fancied entirely blue robes, but quickly settled on having robes which were cream on the inside, and azure on the exterior surfaces. The armour is Heavy Charcoal and the bases custom, using railway scenery bricks and paving stones, suitably destroyed. Here's my finalised proof of concept: In terms of future plans, I aim for an initial battalion to support my Knightly order, and am toying with the idea of a conversion of Cannoness Junith Eruita, with the character looking like lady justice: blindfolded holding a sword and scales. Bjorn Firewalker
The model looks great. I presume the gray of the sisters' armor symbolizes the steely strength of the sisters' willpower; the white of their mask symbolizes the purity of their purpose, which is to persecute all who sin against the Emperor; and the blue of their robes symbolizes the peace (death) they will deliver to the Emperor's enemies. Aqui
A nice start! ^_^ I like the theme overall. Usually, Sisters are far less fair than the Justice system UK or otherwise ) The idea of a HQ in a similar stance to Lady Justice a great one (perhaps her personal vehicle could be called "the Old Bailey" ;) ). I'll be looking forward to seeing it ^_^ Edited December 15, 2019 by Aqui Trokair and Sword Brother Adelard 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360583-order-of-the-divine-judgment-the-emperors-prosecutrixes/#findComment-5446847 Share on other sites

I'll be looking forward to seeing it ^_^ The fairness of the system depends heavily on which judge you end up in front of... I think I could have a lot of fun on the fluff front crafting the most unfair system imaginable: Presumed guilty until executed, whereupon only the Emperor can judge them. As ever Bjorn, you've put more thought into it than me, I just didn't want to paint more black or red! Trokair
Nice start, look forward to seeing more. Also that’s a pretty good approach to basing, tough I suspect it gets rather fiddly. Slasher956
Re the basing....could happily cut up the sprues your girls come on to use as the bricks... Apart from that cool model I like the look of them! Sword Brother Adelard
Nice start, look forward to seeing more. Also that’s a pretty good approach to basing, tough I suspect it gets rather fiddly. I did 7 more yesterday, and yes. I now (almost) hate my decision. I bought 5 from the company that made the paving stones and bricks which were ready made, as a sort of pattern/inspiration. However, those are resin casts. Something I am now rather seriously contemplating. Wbat's really nice about them however, is that the new models have small amounts of basing attached to their feet, and the bricks, by chance, are the same size as the ones I used. WarriorFish
Nice colours, and good choice in the inside robes colours - it's a good way to add some more colour to complement a scheme without adding too much :) Sword Brother Adelard 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360583-order-of-the-divine-judgment-the-emperors-prosecutrixes/#findComment-5446954 Share on other sites
Sword Brother Adelard
Nice colours, and good choice in the inside robes colours - it's a good way to add some more colour to complement a scheme without adding too much :) Thanks, however, they are an absolute pig to paint. I had three for testing and broke two off their bases after about two minutes so that I could get the brush inside the skirts. I was lstening to Max Felejj's voxcast interview, and he recommends painting the inside robes first, because you will make such a mess doing them that painting anything else is pointless. WarriorFish
There's always an element of learning with any new scheme or models It usually takes me a couple of models or so before I optimise the method for any new scheme, then you're off Besides, if it were too easy would your army be worthy of the Emperor's light? Aqui
Regarding the bases. Is it worth trying to make a few masters and then making a press mold? I had a couple of custom shoulder Guards for marines made before I joined the Sisterhood and after an couple of tries, managed to get a few decent ones made using green stuff. I used a rubber cast. A resin one could mean it would make far more with less effort. Sword Brother Adelard
Great to see a full squad, the colours really come out together - imagine how much better an army will look ;) It's too tantalising a prospect. I'm already considering whether I paint any tanks I don't currently plan on buying majority blue or majority grey... Sword Brother Adelard
My first character: an old sculpt canoness. It was interesting painting one of the metal sculpts, it's really made me appreciate just how much progress the designers have made with this release. The improvement in quality makes painting the models a lot easier as well! Sword Brother Adelard
My boxes arrive tomorrow. So far I have only gone for two boxes of battle sisters and a box of Retributors. My general plan is to have the core of my army as a 32 strong battalion. (I have two Canoneses already, and am thinking of using spare Sister Superior parts from the boxes, together with the spare body of the Repentia Superior I have to make a third.) My current thinking for building is as follows: Build two of each heavy weapon, as with four Retributors and two Heavy Sisters in the troops boxes I can do that without impacting on numbers. Build three Sisters Superior (one from each box) I'm then a bit lost on Special Weapons. Thanks to the boxed set, I already have a flamer and storm bolter. I have a plan in the rest of my army to always give Special Weapon Sisters Celestian Helmets, so I can mix and match them into Celestian Squads later on if things expand that way. Any thoughts? walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360583-order-of-the-divine-judgment-the-emperors-prosecutrixes/#findComment-5463609 Share on other sites
Sword Brother Adelard
Bit of a thread necro as I finally get back to painting my order. I haven't bought much more for it since early last year, and tbh, I'm still not sold on the new tanks, whereas I strangely like the new war suits. My question is this. I've finally decided to get some custom transfers done for my order. I want a Pegasus for the primary symbol, but am just wondering what other sorts of transfers to put on a custom sheet? First on the list is a load of small Pegasus (Pegasuses? Pegasi?) For the robes, some larger ones for the vehicles, but is there anything else I may want that isn't on the standard sheet?
