So looks like we are getting an on theme Grombrindal model this Boxing day. I quite like it but I am not sure if he comes with rules or not but I am hoping to slide him in my army somehow.  Hopefully I can separate the servitor and place him on his own base.

I feel bah humbug about this one to be honest.

Yea, I don't want to be a downer here, but this is the lump of coal in the proverbial admech stocking.

This has none of the grimdark feel, and yet I do understand it is a 'fun piece'. I just think in an era where everyone wants new models this feels like it could have been in a better place.

Well I have a budget for buying something cool. They could have given us a squat engineer or something and we all would have eaten it up. I just don't get it. I don't know why I'm grumpy, I wasn't grumpy about the red gobbo.

The cheery smile and hair are the most out of place aspects. I expect to see a number of conversions that change the head. The mechadendritic beard could become a lovecraftian mass of tendrils pouring from a hood easily enough. Perhaps a spare Manipulus head might work with that.

I probably won’t convert mine if my Ex does manage to secure me one. But for many a little kit bashing with common spares might make this much more to their liking.

And let’s also not get disheartened as we have some things we know are coming (the Archaeopter in 3 varieties) and things we know may be (other rumour engine winged thing that’s likely ours, Heavy Skitarii, Manipulus solo release)

I don’t quite want to go so far as to suggest that this model heralds a sizeable wave of Mechanicus releases but it does suggest our faction is selling well and is stylistically popular enough to get this which I think bodes well for us.

I think it’s just a fun release, not meant to be tied to Admech really at all.

On the topic of Disney though, any involvement with Disney (hasn’t it started with the comics) will eventually spell the end for the Grim Dark setting.

Disney made one of the most Grimdark and 40k-ish (and I’m 100% sure an influence on 40k!) movies ever made. The Black Hole. But it’s a reasonable concern that modern Disney wouldn’t make horror or horror-tinged films these days like they did in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

But as for this figure looking like a Christmas Ornament, well that’s not a bad point. It could be made into one. I must admit last year I saw some empty Christmas Ornaments designed to have crafters put their own things inside and I thought about making a couple with miniatures inside. Something that my health and events this year precluded.

Another element of influence on this figure that may be worth mentioning is the 2nd edition ”Skullz” Archmagos with rod instead of axe, big hat and a book-carrying tonsured assistant of Squat-ratling stature.

It's not particularly aimed at us though.

It's just a fun New take on the White Dwarf!

Yes. It's just a cute little model which isn't supposed to fit the line (or is concerned with it at least...)

I loved that movie! I don’t remember it being all that grim though, but I did see it in the movie theater as a young kid and it was awesome.

I read that price and went strait to my currency converter. Then I read the Australian bit and threw my hands up realising that I cannot convert that in GW land to a UK price :sad.:

EDIT: The Killteam Book is A$55/£20 so yeah £20 hopefully.
