First_Among_Brothers
I’ll admit that I’m not so great of a painter as to be able to convincingly freehand letters, so I was wondering if anybody could recommend any products or techniques for lettering. I’m not looking at something super-fine like a banner; I’m thinking of trying to get some mottos or slogans onto the sides or tops of transport vehicles. I can’t find stencils that are small enough and also come in some kind of font that makes sense for 40k/ 30k (like, Gothic letters for example), and I have the same problem with actual letters (so, I found a 3rd party sprue with some letters intended for Blood Bowl, but they don’t have the right look for the grim darkness of the future). Fajita Fan
Also consider trying a Micron pen. The .005 will let you make convincing chickenscratch on purity seals while the .01 is good for lettering. I use them for making checkerboards as I can’t possibly fathom doing that with a brush. Now if you don’t have great handwriting (like me) this doesn’t completely alleviate the problem. There is waterslide transfer paper that runs through an inkjet or laser jet printer and tutorials online. Brother Desultor
The Mighty Brush has some Gothic lettering transfer sheets on his website. They're listed on his website https://www.themightybrush.com/product-category/waterslide-transfer-sheets/page/2/ but don't seem to be available when you click on the item. (You can see a good image of them on his landing page though). He's a frequent lurker/active contributor to this forum so drop him a PM to ask about them. I've used them on vehicles, Imperial Knights and even on my Warlord titan as they come in a range of sizes and shapes. *** Update - the link has now been fixed - https://www.themightybrush.com/product/imperial-gothic-script-waterslide-transfers-decal-sheet/ *** Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360628-stencils-text-for-making-letters/#findComment-5447800 Share on other sites
Spacecow
I’ve never tried it before but you could print your own decals. First_Among_Brothers
https://www.comixininos.com/plantilla-de-numeros-para-peanas-slater-s.html Thanks for the responses. I found the link to the Blood Bowl letters & numbers I mentioned in the original post in case anyone’s interested—very much like the German etched brass ones you guys posted the links to.
