I'm a shoots guy myself. I love the slight flexibility they add to the unit, giving it more ways to punch out stuff. In addition, I don't find I'm too worried about how many attacks my boyz have until late in the game. Adding 1 attack per model to a 30 boy unit that already has 3-4 attacks per model isnt a big deal to me. Also, using them as Evil Sunz and ignoring the penalty for advancing just feels so good.

To be honest, though, I think a mix would probably be best. I'd like to do a 20:10 mix of shootas to choppas, pulling shootas first. That way, you still have some ranged punch but also have extra attacks on models you know will always be in range for CC.

I use a mix of them myself, usually a 2:1 mix, not mixing the two together. So say 2 mobz of choppas, and a mob of shootas. This has been slowly changing to more of a one to one mix now though. I play as bad moonz so the shootas are great for my clan. I have played a few times in the past as goffs though and I am considering a goff detachment. As toaa said, the lack of 1 attack and some pistol shots, is not that big of deal, especially later in a game. One cool thing about orks is they are all good fighters, even the dudes with just rifles. I like to field the choppas in the front, with mobs of shootas behind them giving cover fire. I have been wondering lately about mixing my mobz in a 2:1 ratio, wondering how that might do, i.e.- have 20 choppa boyz with 10 shootas, positioning the shootas in the back of the mob.

So I use both, with a preference to the choppa boyz, though this is slowly changing. I keep considering mobz of stormboyz, if I took/take stormboyz I would run all shoota boyz.
