Karhedron
I had a look but I could not see this issue addressed so apologies if I have missed it somewhere. Several armies now have access to DIY army traits allowing you to customise your army. How does this interact with aura abilities and transports? For example, say I define a custom Eldar Craftworld XXX and assign 2 traits to it as defined in Pheonix Rising. Now I define another craftworld with the same name but different traits. I take a detachment of each. RAW, it seems like an Autarch from the first Detachment would grant rerolls to the second detachment and vice-versa since the <Craftworld> name keywords match. Likewise units from one detachment should be able to embark on transports from the other. This does not seem like it is RAI but you could justify it on the basis that Craftworld XXX has 2 distinct schools of military training but they integrate seamlessly on the battle field. Does anyone know if this has been officially discussed anywhere? Dr_Ruminahui
I recall errata to the Astra Militarum codex that is relevant (if not directly on point) but can't seem to find it now. Anyway, in it GW said that you couldn't make your custom regiment's <REGIMENT> keyword be, for example, ULTRAMARINES and thereby confer benefits triggering from your regiment keyword to ultramarine models and vice versa. Even if said errata does still exist somewhere, given that it deals with 2 codexes it isn't directly applicable to your question. From my recollection, GW hasn't dealt with that particular issue yet. That said, it seems like a deliberate rules exploit - normally, different craftworlds have different benefits and can't use each other's transports, and by giving different craftworld's the same name you are seeking to avoid the disadvantages of having 2 different craftworlds. So, at best this is technically legal and highly unlikely to be permitted by tournament organizers or opponents. Ciler
It's one of the final entries in the designer's commentary : https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Warhammer_40000_Designers_Commentary.pdf Q: If I create an Astra Militarum Regiment of my own and name them, for example, the ‘Emperor’s Finest’, and I then also create an Adeptus Astartes Chapter of my own choosing, and also call them the ‘Emperor’s Finest’, do the abilities that work on the <Regiment>a nd/or <Chapter> keywords now work on both the Astra Militarum and Adeptus Astartes units? A: No.The intent of naming Regiments, Chapters, etc. of your own creation is to personalise your collections and not to enable players to circumvent the restrictions on what abilities affect what units. It is also not intended to circumvent the restrictions on which units are able to be included in the same Detachment.
