CHEEKY BONUS JULY VOW

 

Seeing as my Indomitus box was a bit delayed over the weekend, I started working on some of my backlog - I've got about halfway into a Rhino for my Iron Veil - I vow to complete it before month's end (and before opening my copy of Indomitus).

I started a Custodes project 2 years ago, but somehow never got to base them. Now that I desire to put the fear of the Emperor into my playgroup and send the Talons of the Emperor on a soon-ish Crusade, I should probably fix that. I vow to put proper bases on my old Custodes force (5 Guard, a Vexilus Praetor, a Shield Captain, Trajann and a single Vertus Praetor) by month's end, to reinforce the Xenos.

Having finished the below sister squad and Imaginer, together with the Canoness I finished earlier this month, I declare my July vow completed with 7 sisters done.

My August vow will be to finished the remaining models I committed to the Iron Gauntlet, specifically the second Canoness, the Retributer squad and the Dominion squad. Picture below as to where I was with them 2 weeks ago, haven’t done much on them since as I was focused on the Iamgfier and squad I just finished.

I, Trokair, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of August pledge to complete some more Sister of Battle (including a second Canoness, a Retributer squad and a Dominion squad) by month's end.

I have finished up 6 of the 8 Chaos Space Marines that are in my July vow. I don't want to rush the last two, which also require a bit of assembly and then extra time to plan and try freehanding a banner for the first time.

I'm really happy with how the face turned out for a first attempt at it. I think I'm going to have to roll this guy as an Aspiring Champion/Sergeant. Looking at it now, it could do with some clean up on that gauntlet, but calling these models done.

You painted on the eyebrows? Oh my word. That's commitment.

 

Given that it's already August somewhere, here's my plodding along update and August pledge.

 

The drop pod now has the interior in place. The next step is the tricky one - I'm trying to replicate my painting style from years back (so that this one matches my other pod), but that involves dry-brushing everything (as you can see), including lots of adjacent panels in different colours. My recollection is that the first one took a lot of tidying up, re-dry-brushing, tidying up the other way, re-dry-brushing again, and so on. Which is why I don't do it any more, but I'm too completist to change it up now, at least for this army. 

 

And this is August's project - four genestealers I acquired alongside some more cultish stuff, and a couple of familiars because the colour scheme is the same. The newer stealers will get rebased to match all the others, but I'm still working on getting them off the base without breaking their ankles. Anyway.

 

I, Rogue, pledge to complete these four genestealers and two familiars by the end of August, for the ongoing if slightly beleaguered glory of the xenos cause.

Thanks, 19 done, 33 to go, plus another 12 unbuilt. And that’s only counting actual sisters, if I add in tanks, penitents, priest and all the other non sister units then there are 8 more done (I think) and 17 or thereabout to paint/ build/convert.

They also have so much details I am spending way more time on these then say my Deathwatch or Tau.

JULY SUMMARY

July was another excellent month for the Challenge with 27 Frater returning to the Challenge and pledging 255 models, of the 27 Frater, 25 completed their pledges and 240 models. I continue to be impressed each month by both the volume, and quality of the models you're all putting out.

Again, another VERY hard month to choose a Favourite. TPS's 40k Reaver, and Spazmolytic's freehand on his AT Reaver were both fantastic, but in the end Arkhanist's Plague Marines and their glowing toxic bases are my pick for July's Favourite.

Campaign Summary

With the continued larger output of both The_Chaplain and TPS, the Xenos Faction has completed the most models for the month coming in at 129 models. The Imperium completed 79 models this month, with the Chaos team completing 32 models.

For the secong time, the Imperial Faction has earned 104CP, maintaining their advantage. This month saw the Chaos and Xenos Factions tie for CP, both earning 56CP each.
