Phubar
Hi, i want to have a small side project in order to have fun painting IG models in different colors from my main army. I have a little lore for them, they are the infantry force that defends a space ship in case of enemy boarding and provides ground defence too in case of small ships when they land. The models allowed are only infantry ones (including ogryns & Co) plus sentinels as the corridors and halls in a ship does not have room for larger vehicles. They use only weapons that non rely on oxigen in order to work as the oxigen in ships is valuable (so no bolt weapons, flamers, missiles, etc etc). Here is my test model, do you have any small painting suggestions for improving it? PS: i know that a respirator would be almost mandatory for soldiers that will figth in a potential low oxigen enviroment but i dont want to spend too much money in this fun project. WarriorFish
The colour scheme looks good, I think it could do with a dash more colour to complement it but I'm not sure what. Perhaps gold icons, or stripe markings somewhere? walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360861-ship-defence-force-a-small-infantry-project/#findComment-5453497 Share on other sites
Phubar
Thank you! What kind of makings will fit in a force like that, that it is between Aeronautica Imperialis and Imperial Guard? Dr_Ruminahui
A vertical yellow stripe on one shoulder might look good under whatever symbol you chose, and a black 2 or 3 digit number on the other. Any symbol would work - I would imagine they would have something from their home ship's heraldry. walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360861-ship-defence-force-a-small-infantry-project/#findComment-5453800 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Indeed, a stripe (or more) on weapons or shoulder pads is the norm but you can do whatever you want :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360861-ship-defence-force-a-small-infantry-project/#findComment-5453941 Share on other sites

Phubar
Yes, i took inspiration from the rebel pilots :) I would have painted the rifle black but it would be too dark and the hands would "disappear" :( walter h and ranulf the revenant 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360861-ship-defence-force-a-small-infantry-project/#findComment-5454653 Share on other sites
zero88
How about either converting lascarbines or purchasing some from a third party would be inexpensive. The conditions you are describing would definitely mean they would be carrying some sort of a smaller lasgun walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360861-ship-defence-force-a-small-infantry-project/#findComment-5458106 Share on other sites
Cap'm Heckus
Swap the nozzle on a flamer and it could be converted to some kind of flesh dissolving chem-sprayer. Paint the back tank to look like a glass tank full of caustic goop. It’s a maintenance tool converted for ship defense. Grenade launchers could loaded with “hull friendly” grenade variants (electro-frags and “man-poppers”). The new arbite looking guys from Necromunda would make nice veterans as elite ship’s security. The Load Lifter variant of the sentinel could work if you assume the ship has any kind of cargo area. walter h and Ahistorian 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360861-ship-defence-force-a-small-infantry-project/#findComment-5459235 Share on other sites
4ndroid
i'd recommend a gun metal metallic for the weapons to make them look a bit different than the flak armor agreed with above comments on some herald details lets see the whole crew! walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360861-ship-defence-force-a-small-infantry-project/#findComment-5459252 Share on other sites
