The Alpha Legion after the faction focus articles

The Devastation Battery Detachment is fluffy for Iron Warriors, but it's not an IW-specfic detachment, do I wouldn't use it as an example that we or any other Legion are going to get our onlwn specific detachments.

I've always been a proponent of Havocs, though, so if nothing else, I'll use the Devastation Battery if I find myself playing a Knight, for example.

Maybe we could get a sniper upgrade for Chosen to match the Eliminators

40k headhunters would be great, but I can't see GW doing this

I do not see a reason that would stop GW. Its just a upgade pack with 2 or 3 sniper rifles, 10 Alpha Legion shoulder pads, some heads and 1 or 2 melee weapons.

That would go well with the new box

Anyone else think the rules for Red Corsairs are actually better for the Alpha Legion, than the Alpha Legion ones...

I like the option exists, but I play alpha legion, so I'll use marines and enjoy a -1 to hit while the hunker down in cover

Master of Executions seems to be good for working alongside an Exalted Champion. What are your thoughts on the new units for CSM?

I am quite interested in this as well, since I will be starting a new army some form of roadmap for whats good will be nice.

Especially the heavy Support section is full of stuff I am loving opticly (Havocs, daemon engines, obliterators).

As I understand it cultists are stuck at 5 ppm but lost legion trait and got restricted to 30 guys/unit. Which is fine with me as I like taking power armoured dudes.

Also see appended my 3 BSF chaos marines as test pieces for my alpha legion scheme. I tried a non metallic and a metallic scheme, decided to stick with metallic. Also I tried my hand at glazes over zenithal work which can still be improved.

So I'm thinking a Raptor Host with two squads of Raptors loaded with plasma, one big unit of Warp Talons, and a jump pack Lord or Sorcerer for taste backed up by Arkos. Between Arkos and the Host's HQ's Warlord Trait, that's +3" to charge. Suddenly, Warpflame Strike isn't such a bad deal...

So what is your judgment on the Heretic Astartes Focus: Alpha Legion?

I just say that i am a little disappointed.

The Cult of the Damned sounds more like something that is more related to the The Word Bearers.

Not that Cultists (operatives) is not a part of the Alpha Legion's modus operandi.

But I always view the more as sleeper agent that a religious cult.

I see nothing in the article that look like it's specialise in stealth and subterfuge.

Or the coordinated multiple fronts attack that the Alpha Legion is also famous for.

Other than Renegade Chapters and the Black Legion there have been no significant rules updates for the other Traitor Legions. They're just a showcase for new units, specialist detachments, and stratagems...........I'm not crying you're crying. (sobs in corner)

Now that we've had all the focus articles, it's only really the Black Legion and famous renegade warbands that got rules with limitations, all the other stuff anyone can use.

They did just as much or little with us as they did with any of the other ones (except the above mentioned ones ofc)...

I agree the XX focus was very disappointing, nothing in there for me personally. On another note, has anyone tried to chaosify (I swear it's a word) the cataphractii terminators and what parts did you use?

I think that depend on the level of corruption you are going for.

I personally prefer a more "neutral" look, so I often remove more imperial iconography or chaos stars.

Then I add combat scars or studs.

If I where go for max corruption to a cataphractii terminator. I would add legion shoulder guards, maybe some trophy racks, different helmets, chaos weapons and skulls.
