So the fixes we expected for Lemartes but apart from that we see nerfs. We don’t even get the revised relic stratagem and Dante’s chapter master rule is not as useful as normal space marines’. I know it’s complex tracking so many rules but I think this is a bad show from GW.

I still appreciate the changes we’ve had though, don’t get me wrong.

Considering how many questions there were, that doesn’t seem like an awful lot. At least the rectified the obvious ones. Too bad for the Flesh Tearers though, their chapter trait is definitely worse than Red Thirst. Stacking with the Assault doctrine could’ve been big for them.

PS to my post over in the BoB Tactica:

Didn’t even notice the Litany part, I just thought it was a rewording at first. That actually hurts quite a bit. Do SM chaplains have the same restrictions?

The Flesh Tearers decision is just :cuss . I'm fully intending to complain about it to them. I don't even play Flesh Tearers myself but at this point it's just insult to injury.

Also sad to see they didn't address the relic problem.

RIP lemartes, Astorath is clear auto-take for most lists now. Too bad he can't squeeze in mantra of strength, I use exhortation of rage and canticle of hate normally

It gets worse, our regular JP chaplains don’t have any rule in the backhand to buff a shooting unit with the +1 to hit-litany if they also want to do Mantra of Strength, which is preferable on a JP chaplain. So double the chaplains or spam Astorath in every list...

He was good before, now he’s just so much better it’s getting ridiculous. This is an unwise decision.

I'm confused by the "Chaplains lost a litany" what is this referencing? Don't have access to books nor links atm.

Also...

How could they bone Flesh Tearers so badly....this is ridiculous.

All the chaplain datasheets were changed to know one less litany. So instead of knowing Litany of hate + 3 more litanies, Astorath only knows Litany of Hate + 2 more.

Also thr Faith and Fury FAQ is out, but no mention of if Blood Angels can make use of its Rules.

And Chaplain Dreadnought from Forgeworld Imperial Armor is not updated to Allow for Blood Angels to use the New Litanies or Any Litanies for that matter with it.

Regards to the Chaplain Dreadnought. Opponents should understand intent. But in competitive matched play I could see the issue. 8th is getting really rules correction heavy at this point. Getting harder and harder to buy a new book to only have to switch how it plays a month later.

Do they have a special extra for being Battleforged like we do?

what special extra do you mean? Ahhh our special one, somehow i thought that was just a choice and not automatic! been playing it wrong :D

No, all have the same amount.

Every Chapter got there Chapter specific litany.

Codes Space marines still has 2 + hate. Are the chapter specific ones in faith and fury optional (one of the 2) or are they in addtion (like the BA one)

A lot of disappointment from this FAQ. I just do not understand why they won't make Dante good. Or Seth for that matter. FT really got the shaft with this update also.

Some good discussions here and in other places. I just disagree with the rules for some of these units.

I cross-referenced Chaos SM Codex, Codex: SM 2.0, and Faith & Fury and Dark Apostles and Chaplains get base + know 1/cast 1. The Master of Sanctify Strat from F&F gives a Chaplain base+ know 2/chant 2.

So it seems like Astorath is in line with other High Chapains and Lemartes has been knocked down to a “normal” chaplain when it comes to Litanies.

We still don’t have to like it, but there is some precedence there.
