Aztek
I think I'm gonna start a 30k army and was heavily leaning towards Dark Angels with the Cenobites and the Interremptors, but I noticed they don't have any special characters, that I can tell anyways. Is it likely they get one besides the Lion(please gimme)? Corswain seems the most famous, so is it likely we'll get a model for him during the Thramas Crusade releases? Thanks! battle captain corpus 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361183-how-likely-is-a-corswain-model-for-the-dark-angels/ Share on other sites

It makes sense obviously and would be a great addition to the DA lineup for sure! Some Legions off the top of my head have literally just the Primarch and a named character so its not unrealistic to expect Corswain. :) BCC Aztek 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361183-how-likely-is-a-corswain-model-for-the-dark-angels/#findComment-5460095 Share on other sites
m_r_parker
I'd say it's around 50:50 So far most legions have had one named non-Primarch character released with a model, and typically they tend to be the more famous / well known characters. Obviously this will be more focussed around the Thramas campaign (rather than it simply being 'here are some Dark Angels') but if memory serves I think Corswain was at Thramas. Given that the likes of Luther are outside of the campaign (and probably won't be present in the book at all), the only alternative may be to create their own character and give them a model. battle captain corpus, Aztek and Noserenda 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361183-how-likely-is-a-corswain-model-for-the-dark-angels/#findComment-5460101 Share on other sites
Brother Tyler
(Answered in your Dark Angels forum discussion) From a rules perspective, each legion has been given rules for their primarch, the first captain, and one or two additional characters. The primarch miniature is a given. Additional miniatures for the other characters have not always been a given, and sometimes it has taken quite some time for those other miniatures to be released. If the Dark Angels Legion gets additional special character minis beyond the Lion, Corswain would seem to be the most likely. The characters I wonder about more are the others - are we likely to see Cypher and/or Luther? Joe
One named character has already been announced. It was in the Road to Thramas - Part I. In Crusade, you’ll also find rules to field Marduk Sedras, an Eskaton of the Dreadwing.** At the start of the Horus Heresy, Sedras was one of the oldest living Space Marines, having faithfully served the Emperor for more than 250 years. There’s very little that he hasn’t seen, so before the battle has begun, he can impart his wisdom to nearby units, inspiring them to even greater deeds.** Eskaton is a title used within the Dreadwing to denote a warrior that has overseen the final death of an entire race or world. Corswain is a strong possibility, however I wouldn't put it past them to come up with entirely new characters as they already have. Marshal Rohr
Who is the First Captain of the Dark Angels? If it’s Luther, he’s a poor choice for the game/campaigns (never left Caliban) but easily the most loreful choice relevant to the Legion. If they choose someone else to fill the role of the First Captain, Corswain is in the lead commanding half the legion on its mission to destroy traitor supply lines and not confined by the Imperium Secundus timeline. Darkwrath121
I would be shocked if it isn't Corswain, for a few reasons: - They've outright said that Luther's end of things won't be covered, so no Luther/Astelan. - Eskaton Marduk Sedra, the other named character in book 9, is a Dreadwing dude who gives buffs, which contrasts nicely with Corswain's Sigismund-style niche. - The other lore-famous possibilities, Alajos and Holguin, are honestly just lesser versions of what Cor brings to the game. The former also doesn't survive Thramas. My view on it anyway! Gederas
I hope we get Corswain. That'd be frigging SWEET! - The other lore-famous possibilities, Alajos and Holguin, are honestly just lesser versions of what Cor brings to the game. The former also doesn't survive Thramas. Huh, he doesn't? Okay then. It wouldn't be the first time they make a character who doesn't survive a major battle (see: Saul Taravitz, Erasmus Golg). Actually, anyone have a tally of the named Special Characters in 30k who have rules that are deceased by the Siege of Terra? I'm not super brushed up on my HH lore, but I think it's Ferrus, Saul, and Golg? Alajos is Corswain's predecessor, and admitted himself that Corswain was the best fighter in the legion, so giving him rules would just be like buying the off-brand Corswain! Marshal Rohr
How long does Thramas go on after Tsagualsa? If they are shooting for a Thramas encompassing character roster we might get Alajos, which would leave room for a Corswain focused expansion down the line. So Alajos could fit in that respect. Yet even then, I can't see FW giving rules to both Cor and Alajos (the third best DA fighter), what with how similar they would be on the tabletop. Both WS7 beatsticks with some command ability. Ultramarines didn't get Marius Gage, SWs didn't get Gunnar Gunnhilt, IW didn't get Forrix, IH didn't get Gabriel Santar, Sallies didn't get Numeon, RG didn't get Gherith Arendi (who seems to be the closest the RG had, as commander of the Shadow Wardens) and did the AL even have one in the first place? Now, I agree Corswain is the most likely pick for 'DA special character', but that's more because he has a reasonably major role in the events of Thramas, rather than by dint of being First Captain. Marshal Rohr
That would be odd lorewise, but having a beatstick sword master for the sword legion is pretty much necessary.
