The Saint Ragnar
Hey guys, I've recently been bulking out my Primaris force and getting them a nice paint scheme. My current wolves are the 30k colors which I have always loved. So I figured I start a discussion of why this a great time fluff wise to have a lost company. The main issue I always saw with Lost Companies is how are they still lost and not have reinforcement from current era wolves. How do the keep their numbers up after engagements? The current fluff offer a nice spin as now given the state of the Imperium it makes sense why they haven't been able to reach Fenris. Also, they can now bolster their numbers with Primars. The way I have written my background fluff for myself is the Lost Company popped out of the Warp on the wrong side of the Imperium. With how messed up the space is they are having a hard time finding a way back to Fenris. They stumble upon an Ultima Founding chapter that doesn't have a larger one they stem from who are currently searching for a home planet. They happen upon to damaged Wolves battle barge and offer to give supplies and repairs when they find a home. The wolves follow them to a planet nearby where they came out that has a harsh winter cycle that last nearly the entire year outside of a very violent summer given their orbit around their star. The wolves help the Primaris chapter settle while making repairs and teaching them the war to wage war like a Space Wolf. Eventually they are convinced to help the Lost Company find their way back to Fenris. So they go out on a crusade and throughout many battles make their way along the Galaxy. As warriors fall they are given a chance to try and cross the Rubicon and join the Primaris Chapter (which is why some of my sgts. and one Lt. have space wolf icons and etc.). What are your thoughts. Do you people who also run a Lost Company agree or have different takes? Or are you along the thoughts of they harvest 100% of the geneswwd from fallen brothers from random planets? I like this as I can take a few Primaris units with my Lost Company or throw in some Lost Company with my growing Primaris force to make up the difference. And I have a fluffy background for why it would be. Also, I'm doing a more Chapter neutral color so I can run them as a successor of other chapters if the fancy strikes me aa right now we have no real synergy with them. Karhedron
That could work. If it were me, I would say that a Lost Company might stumble across an Indomitus Crusade fleet while plying the stars. The Custodes follow their orders and give the Company a sample of Russ's geneseed with Primaris upgrades and a few squads of Grey Shields to get them started. Wolves are always depicted as pragmatic fighters so would not reject such a gift. After a few awkward starts, the new brothers are introduced to mjod, demonstrate their ferocity in battle and are soon welcomed by their new company like long-lost brothers. Remember it is not uncommon for Astartes forces to fight in forces of company-strength for years at a time apart from the main Chapter so no one would think it odd to discover a strike force of Wolves coming to the aid of a beleaguered planet, even quite far from Fenris.
