Taddeus the Purifier vs. "Stock" Missionary

I'm wondering what people think about Taddeus the Purifier (from Blackstone Fortress) and whether he's worth bringing for 14 points more than a stock Missionary (assuming you are bringing a missionary).

 

Looking at him, it appears you're basically paying 14 points for a power maul (that the stock missionary does not have access to), and a 3-shot stub pistol. At the same time you lose Word of the Emperor and frag and krak grenades.

 

Seems like a very high cost just for a power maul (the servo stubber really isn't that much better than the shotgun option).

 

I'm interested in what others think, but I am thinking I'll just convert the Taddeus model I bought to have a chainsword instead of the maul, and change the servo skull's stubber out for a bolt pistol and have a shotgun slung across his back or something.

Rather than using him as a Missionary I was planning on using my Taddeus as Arch-Confessor Kyrinov from time to time. A few points more but gets an extra wound and attack over a Missionary.
