Vogon
I’m contemplating adding a super heavy to my Alpha Legion as a nice big impressive centrepiece to round out my collection (for now) and would like to canvass opinion on what to go for. It’s definitely going to be one of either Fellblade, Glaive or Falchion but I’m not sure which. I’m leaning towards the Falchion as it’s the only way I can see to get Strenght D in a pure legion list but if I’m being brutally honest with myself I know it’s not going to see a gaming table all that often so that’s not necessarily a deal breaker. It’s going to be a while before I visit Warhammer World again so I’ve got a bit of time to make my decision so I’d love to hear your thoughts. Which of the three and why? Cheers Vogon P.S. Coolest looking IS a valid answer. P.P.S. If not one of these I might just plump for an Ares for my Custodes. Nomadic Thunder
I would personally go for the Falhion. (and i shall myself when I find the funds for such a beast) In my opinion it looks the coolest, specially with the fixed main gun which can be given a Neutron Wave Capacitor which sounds super cool in itself and Shock Pulse is a fun rule. It looks like a proper chunker of tank and embodies the character of the legions "I disagree, so I'm turning you and your city to glass" attitude to warfare and I think it is the most "centrepiece" looking model. The Glaive would be my second option and honourable mention for Volkite infantry death! armarnis
Not a fan of the glaive personally but i have a sweet spot for both the fellblade and the falchion. I would go for the latter! Marshal Vespasian
I will eventually geht the falchion as a Center piece (next to rogal Dorn of course) because of looks the coolest. You can do a nice osl effect on the Main gun. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361639-legion-superheavies/#findComment-5470785 Share on other sites

Brother Pheidias
The Falchion is an awesome tank, only borrowed one for an event a few weeks back, and it was devastating.I own a Glaive, and I have to say it's my favourite by far, especially as far as looks go, though the way it simply deletes infantry is sometimes almost overkill, and I personally feel somewhat bad when I line up one of those shots.Have played against a few Fellblades, they toss out a very respectable amount of firepower, and look good while doing it, though they lack some of the wow-factor of the other two. IamAlphariusxx20
Glaive is the coolest looking by far, gotta love that volkite. In my mind it's also the most Alpha legiony, with the advanced tech. Plus, it might be more interesting to play with cos lining up the volkite with a few units requires more thought than just sitting back and blasting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361639-legion-superheavies/#findComment-5470799 Share on other sites
The Ironic Warrior
The falchion is really nasty if you get lucky with it and have lots of other threats on the board to keep it safe. If the enemy has a superheavy on the field, it won't be there for long unless it has ranged D capabilities itself and gets to fire first. The glaive is comical with how powerful it is. If you can get that bad boi into a good position you can deny so much of the board to the enemy, and it works against pretty much everyone: mechanicum, marines, militia, custodes, all of them have a bad time with this thing on the field. The fellblade is nice, but I feel you are better off getting the cheaper (both money and points cost) baneblade, as that has a much better main gun at the cost of less hullpoints, but with that kind of superheavy you want to be hitting hard rather than taking the hits. Mackenzie
All of those tanks are awesome. But my vote is for the Falchion. I love mine, it was fun to build, fun to paint and in its first game it one shotted a Shadowsword and glassed a bunch of Iron Warriors. I can’t wait to use her again https://www.instagram.com/p/B6T9mUKHBF3/?igshid=5rdk3viyocbp Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361639-legion-superheavies/#findComment-5470854 Share on other sites
Vogon
It’s interesting that the Falchion is pretty universally the favourite. Plenty of food for thought there, but I’ve still got a fair bit of time before I make my final decision. Noserenda
The Glaive is far and away the sexiest, but its also the least fun to play against, then the Fell blade which is comically underpowered. I kinda like the Falchion but it's too big to work for me. MegaVolt87
Glaive looks amazing in AL colours and fits as a real specialist unit lore wise for AL. Unknown Legionnaire
Speakin' of superheavies, can someone point out to me the most recent publication in terms of 7th ed. rules writing which did contain the rules for all the Macharius variants and the Praetor Assault Launcher ? Was it IA Apocalypse II 2nd ed. ? Or some other book ? Thanks ! samerandomhero
Imperial Armour Apocalypse (3rd ed 2013) was released in 2013. these are still reasonable in availability and price. it has all of the mentioned units. the one your referring to was previous to it and released in 2011. the rules are also in imperial armour # 1 - Imperial Guard (second edition 2011), this one is harder to find and more expensive. of course, pdfs can be found too :) Edited February 19, 2020 by samerandomhero Unknown Legionnaire 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361639-legion-superheavies/#findComment-5479519 Share on other sites
