Lautrec the Embraced
That's quite a firepower you have here! I guess it's only apropriate for an Iron Warrior. I'd advise the following: - Your guys don't give a damn about morale as it is and it's only amplified by the Ironfire. I don't think you will have much use for all that Vexilia. Incidentally there is another much needed upgrade that costs the same - Artificer Armour. - I counted 9 Terminators. Should this hold true, then the second Blaster is illegal. - For vehicles like Vindicators staying mobile is staying alive and kicking. Dozer Blade might prevent some tragic accidents, like getting immobilized first turn deep into your deployment zone. I think it's worth taking. - Lastly, while firepower is impressive, I'm somehow concerned that you only have one artillery unit. Powerful one but still singular. I think that Quad Launchers are excellent addition to the Ironfire as they have better range than Medusas and are rather cheap. Your call obviously but I'd rather have some more artillery. Canadian_F_H
Alright. So, to get more barrage weapons, i still want an entirely armour and mounted infantry force, so i dropped 1 squadron of vindicators for an achilles land raider. And gave the other vindicators aux drives. The tech marine's name is "achilles land raider automated repair system" aka, he lives and dies in that landraider. Lol Dropped the vexillas, and added artificer armour sgts. The Ironic Warrior
The list is looking pretty well-rounded at this stage, but I've got some questions about it:1) What's the techmarine doing in the list? Just not sure what his purpose is beyond repairing Medusa when they get hurt. 2) 4 Tactical Squads is a lot, good for holding objectives but you need some more long range anti-armour, so dropping to 3 squads and taking some rapiers might be useful for that.3) What's the Achilles doing? It's a lovely unit but seems a bit odd in the list, so unsure what's the use for it there. 4) You are gonna want some more power fists in the terminator unit, as the power axes will have issues against dreadnoughts and ID'ing things like Firedrakes and spooky terminators with 2 wounds. Aside from that it's looking like a solid start so far! dollar452435 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361644-cfhs-iron-warriors-iron-fire-3000/#findComment-5471364 Share on other sites
Canadian_F_H
The tech marine rides in the achilles to repair it. The achilles and medusas have low to zero scatter barrage templates when targetting in proximity to the tactical squads, who will all havr fearless when within 6" of previous bombardments. Its how iron fire works. The achilles and spartan also mean i have 2 tough nuts to crack in the army (as the warlord preator inside the spartan can also make repair rolls until he decides to debark) I do not want to ever own any of the infantry batteries. I dont like the models and that rules the out. Besides i am going for a full armour/mechanized theme so that also rules them out. I was considering a future alt list where i drop one tactical squad and sub in a squad of havocs with anti tank weapons. Other things would need to change to free up points tho. Honestly might ditch the 2 plasma blasters in the terminator squad as i didnt have a specific reason for taking them. The Ironic Warrior
I'm familiar with Ironfire, I run it in almost every game. The issue is the warsmith can't repair as he does not have a servo arm, so no repairs on the Spartan. Lack of a flare shield on that Spartan means it'll die against lascannons or quad mortars very easily. A squad of Havocs with lascannons can kill an unshielded Spartan a turn. The Achilles is nice, but people will ignore it. It's got shatter shells which are fun, but the incendiary isn't threatening so people will focus on the Spartan and just accept the fire the Achilles will be kicking out. If you're against rapiers then potentially a Mortis with lascannons as that fits with the mech theme still, or a sicaran if you can free up a heavy support slot. You're gonna have a hard time keeping ironfire markers in place though, because once those medusas are gone then the Achilles has to fire frag every turn until it dies if you wanna keep those 6" fearless bubbles, but again beyond the terminator squad not much is taking advantage of them beyond being really resilient objective holders. Canadian_F_H
Hmmm. I will look over the list and see what shakes out. Battle scribe says the warsmith can repair vehicles on a 5+ without the servo arm, and that a servo arm gives him +1 on repair rolls. The Ironic Warrior
You only get the battlesmith rule when you purchase the servo arm, just double checked in the legions book. Canadian_F_H
i just had a thought... what are we supposed to use as markers for the Iron Fire? how big are they supposed to be? a lot of distances are supposed to be measured to and from these markers. The Ironic Warrior
I just use 25mm bases with little flame markers on them, I don't think the size really matters, but I wouldn't go for anything bigger than 25mm or a little crystal shard you can get from Hobbycraft in big jars or something...
