Hey all.

So, I think that this is the first time I have posted in this part of the forum, I usually hide in the Raven Guard forum...

Recently, I have been unable to pursue my usual army hobbies, due to failed house moves and stuff being in boxes. However, I was browsing across eBay for anything that amused me. I found an army made of a mix of Beastmen and Space Marines which tickled my un-scratched hobby itch.

I don't know who the person is, but they are cool as. So much so that I have decided to run with them as an idea. That is where I am asking for some help/advice.

Ideally, I'd have liked to run them as Primaris as the 2 wounds seems to fit the mutated idea, but I'd need to boost their bases up to at least make them the correct height.

I don't have many photos (As my camera stuff etc is also packed away) but here is one image to see what I mean:

I am aware that there is a Chaos star on his shoulder, I plan to buy some Daemon skulls to stick over them to cover this.

I have already started to convert some half Marine, half horse centaur guys to act as bikes too.

Anyway, this is where I'm asking for help. What Chapter Tactics would suit this project idea? Would you let me convert the bases up to play them as Primaris, bearing in mind the whole conversion style?

The overall theme is that they are a Chapter that has been put through the Rubicon Primaris but has (obviously) seen some dodgy side-effects. I have an old Inquisitor model who will be acting as their baby-sitter. They now act as Daemon hunting guys (like the Exorcists).

So yeah, anyone got any ideas as to how I could drive this forwards?

Suggestion: Have them "count as" Primaris Space Wolves or Space Wolves successors (which were founded during the Indomitus Crusade). The beast heads are war masks worn to terrify those who oppose the Emperor's will- no mutants here, no reason to declare the Chapter "Excommunicate Traitoris" or purge it, my Lord Inquisitor!

Alternately, have them "count as" Blood Angels or a Blood Angels successor, with the beast heads counting as death mask-equipped Marines.

Very cool!

Awesome theme with so much conversion potential. My advice is to keep your coloring and iconography unique. Worry about what rules to apply to them later, leave yourself options. Ideal would be a collection that can represent any rules set you fancy appropriately.

Yes I would support primaris basing but not all TOs will. Intersessors in particular have 3 weapon options that are cosmetically very similar but have distinct rules. If your opponent cannot identify what the model is and is armed with there is an issue. If it is taxing to your opponent in time and thought to identify your models you are putting yourself at an unfair advantage. Correct basing, weapons, height profile, and pre game explanation help. Respect your opponents by keeping identification easy and intuitive and you should get nothing but respect for such an ambitious project!

Happy converting!

I agree! The idea is great. If anyone is ever worried about "Would you let me play these as x?" and it's supporting a cool converted army, my answer is yes. Then, if they're still worried about the conversions being ambiguous, I point them towards this:

It's way more in-depth and over-the-top than is needed (Matt was really aiming for an award and it paid off), but even a simple print out with a profile pics next to a unit names and weapons goes a long way.
