RastlinD
I recently was playing a game against a long term opponent and had a debate about fast dice rolling. For example, I am shooting with a thunderfire cannon do I roll 1D3 and multiply the result by four or should I roll 4D3 and take that result? Take a second example I shoot with a Devastator squad and hit with 3 lascannons after wounding with all of them do I roll a single D6 and each lascannon does that many wounds or should I roll a single d6 for each lascannon. Panzer
You roll 4d3 of course. Same for the Lascannons. You roll 1d6 damage for each wound. So fast rolling is an entirely optional part of the game (that everyone does) but the rules for it even state that the rules for shooting and combat are written for 1 attack at a time. When assigning wounds its 1 at a time etc etc. It also in no place suggests you should role 1 die and multiply, just saying to roll all dice models firing the same weapon and have the same BS/WS together, implying multiple dice. Now all that said, how you and your friend want to play is entirely up to you, just make sure you agree with your opponent before you roll, because whatever house rule you or your friend might be fine with another person could take exception to. superwill
For the lascannon damage it depends on what you're shooting. If you're shooting it all at a single unit then you can do all at once (though technically if you do you aren't allowed to CP re-roll any of the dice) but if you're shooting, say, a unit of centurions then you should roll the damage one at a time. You can't roll 5 dice and then decide what order to process the results in. EDIT: Oh, nevermind I missed what you're asking. Yeah don't just roll one dice and multiply it by three, roll each dice individually. Occasionally people will multiply results but that's usually only if there's hundreds of dice, and it's still not really good practice. Eddie Orlock
The Deffgun wielded by Lootas and the Burna wielded by Burna Boyz in codex: Orks has specific language that says they take one die for the whole unit and apply it to all the shooting models, but this has ever been the special case counter example.
