Hello everybody

As the Title says i've got a little Question about the Tank Ace ability from the Greater Good book.

As i read it you can make One Character your Warlord but instead of giving him a Warlord Trait you can give a different Tank a Tank Ace Trait. So your Warlord is still the little Guy hiding behind waves of Guardsmen while your Tank Ace isn't considered your Warlord for all Rule purposes.

But i heard different takes on that Rule on the Internet, some say you have to make your Tank Ace your Warlord to get the Trait.

So which one is the right way to do it?

I own the German version of the book so it would be nice if somebody could send the original English Rule Text in the comments.

Maybe it is a translation Error or something.

It is your first interpretation. The rule states:

If an Astra Militarum Character is your Warlord, rather than determining a Warlord Trait for that model, you can instead select one Tank Ace ability for an Astra Militarum Vehicle model from your army. To do so, before the battle begins select one Astra Militarum Vehicle model...

No mention of it having to be the same model. Also, you are allowed to select models that are not even characters.

Then there is the Tank Ace strategem, so you can have a maximum of two tank Aces in your list the way I read it. Tempestus have a strategem for giving a non Warlord a Warlord trait, so that guy could still be your guy for "Grand Strategist" while also having two tank Aces

Just an aside....You can have your warlord and his warlord trait.

You can use the Stormtroopers strat that lets you pick a warlord trait.

And you can, if you have a detachment, take field commander and pick that detachment warlord trait.

The first one is the only one you can swap for Tank Ace.
