Hey Folks,

I'm getting ready to break out my airbrush again after an extended hiatus - so extended that all my old paints are not worth saving.

My preferred brand is Vallejo Model/Game Air and all its associated thinners, cleaners, etc.

However, I'm also interested in working with Windsor & Newton oils on the non-airbrush side of things.

Suggestions for a good place to buy in the US for this?

Thanks in advance!

I typically buy my airbrush paints at JoAnns or IIRC Hobby Lobby had some. That was a while ago though and it seems like many of these places aren't stocking as much any more. You should look up hobby stores in your area for model trains etc as they will have paint on hand.

For airbrush, if you're using typical acrylic paints like GW, Vallejo etc, you can just thin with regular tap water. Having tried Vallejo's thinner In my experience it really doesn't make a difference over water. Of course using prethinned like Model Air is convenient and probably produces less clogs. You can use Model/Game Air just fine with a brush too. In fact, since you need to thin acrylic model paint anyhow before applying, they are almost the same.

Personally I would stay away from oils since you'll need an entirely second set of brushes, thinners etc. I have never had good experiences with them. There are also alcohol based paints, but it's the same story.
