Litany Clarification question

Recommended Posts

Here is Asmodai's entry:

"This model knows the Litany of Hate (see below) and two other litanies from the Litanies of Battle (pg 59)."

Then in the Litanies of Battle section:

"In addition, if your army is Battle-forged, CHAPLAINS in DARK ANGELS Detachments know the Stoic Prosecution litany in addition to any others they know."

Does that mean that if my army is Battle-forged, Asmodai knows four litanies? And likewise, an Interrogator-Chaplain knows three litanies?

If so, then...nice. There's a large amount of flexibility I hadn't appreciated before.

Wait, I have been playing this wrong then.

So, a chaplain knows Stoic Prosecution, Litany of Hate, and one more litany?

No, just Asmodai knows Litany of Hate as standard, hence 4 total Litanies. He's such a boss!

DA Chplains know Stoic Prosection and one other

But normal chaplian also has "This model knows the Litany of Hate (see below) and one litany from the Litanies of Battle (pg 59). "

yeah actually, doing some reading it looks like youre right, its 3

Litany of Hate

Stoic Prosecutin

and one other

.....i think i did know this but got confused

Oh my... So DA Chaplains are basically Masters (trigger grim resolve with Stoic Prosecution) and therefore give you Re-roll 1s to hit...

Mobile Hellblaster castles, overcharging plasma, re-rolling 1s plus Litanies...

This would be grand if Litanies could be used while in a transport or where tested at the end of teh movement phase.

The problem i have with Litanies is just that, your chaplain can only buff while on foot (You can mitigate somewhat with a jump pack)

Also, the dice roll to insight the litany is hit or miss. If it doesnt go off, your chaplain is a nothing character.

As such, he remains on my shelf which is a huge shame.

I'm new to Dark Angels and Litanies in general but..

Having 3 Chaplains could potentially have your Hellblasters overcharging (with Weapons of the Dark Age) hitting on 2s, rerolling 1s then rolling 2s to wound
