So this more of a thought process question.

How do people who paint in the awesome blanchitsu style pick what they will do for a mini? Limited colour palette, greys and browns for skin. Brown and black washes. Rusted and corroded metals. But what techniques do you employ? How do you decide which colours to apply where? I am familiar with zatcaskagoon and marco frisoni on yt and find them very helpful, but I am looking less for colour recipes and more for a rough idea of how to plan painting in the blanchitsu way.

At some point in may I will receive my copy of tainted grail and I want to do it in a dark and gritty style. Next year, when cawdor releases, I want to finally get in on the neceomunda action and I feel like theyll be a perfect opportunity for weird disturbing conversions and a gritty paintjob.

less is more when it comes to colour, imagine this is a living breathing character in a real and filthy world. How do things get worn where would dirt accumilate, checker pattern all the things, add body horror elements to your minis, all tones should be warm tones including your greys so no ulthan grey :D you can use a lot of different colours to make skin tones that are nothing like "skin" paint.

Hmm. I've already got a cream-coloured Dominus that I guess I could experiment on. Even though I'm not going for a Blanchitsu style with my painting I think the techniques have lots of interesting applications. Although my tech priests are painted with a dark colour palette they never quite looked gritty enough. I'll have to make use of this video.
