So for some reason the psi gauge on my Iwata compressor has stopped working. I’ve no clue how this has happened and I’m not sure if it can be sorted but thought I’d ask the airbrush kings on the boards if there’s an easy fix. The psi still works if I turn the knob/screw thing but I have no idea what the psi is.

Without looking / taking it apart, it could be loss of pressure due to seal/blockage/damage/etc.  Whilst I have taken an older/cheaper pump apart at the pressure gauge to understand and fix where it was leaking, if you make a hiccup or unsure where things went back together, you might make it worse and unusable.  My Sparmax has been going well since I've used it, touch wood no problems so far!

Could always call them up at Iwata and see what they say - if you can find a working number?

Bloody thing hardly gets used! I wonder why it’s stopped working. You may be right mate.

That might be why it get like that. Rust or just age broke it.

hmm I doubt rust as it’s been in its box as that’s where I tore it when I don’t use it and age wise it’s about 18 months old and I’ve used it probably less than 20 times.

Hm, there's a valve at the base of my tank on the Sparmax which allows me to undo it and let the excess 'water' drain out to prevent rust after using.  If you've left it with air compressed, maybe there was rust build up ?  Possible, but no idea if that's what happened.

I got a feeling I’m gonna have to shell out for a new one eventually. I can still use it for now but I’ll get one from element games again. May as well get one with an airbrush as well so I have a spare brush.

Have a chat with Martin at Air-Craft.net - he's a very knowledgeable fellow (and a military aviation modeller), and stocks spares for the Sparmax/Iwata compressors.

(N.B. He's not taking orders until 1st April due to stock taking at the moment)
