It has been so long since I used the mower option that I'm having trouble remembering how the rules work with them.

I know the drone on top tier has 3 attacks. The mower says you get 6 additional attacks with the mower.

Does that mean you can make a total of 9 attacks with the mower? Or do you only do 6 mower attacks and 3 with the probe?

Yes, they are at worst a distraction and at their best killing GK Captains. I've been running 3 Drones, 1 of each option and they each play a different role. I've been keeping my HBL near my Lord and Warlord (Arch Contaminator) so he hits on 4+, re-rolling 1's. He also gets to re-roll failed wounds and has strat/spells if available. I really thought they were worthless, on paper, so I wouldn't try them. Someone mentioned here so I gave 1 a try, with the right support I think they are a good investment. That goes for the rest of them too, with the right support they are all good. I use a Lord and the Tallyman w/Arch-Contaminator and Helm. Then I keep them close for anti-deepstrike/counter attacking.

I think the HBL really needs to be assault to work like it should. Otherwise you need to keep still or waste cp to let shoot just mediocre.

The heavy blight launcher is an Assault 6 weapon... We just need our legion trait to be army wide (you know, that thing loyalist got) so it can advance and shoot at 4+. I can lie to myself and say 4+ is good as long as I move an extra 1-6" haha.

Oh my! I allways thought it was heavy so dissmissed it entirely.

Might have to try that - with rerolls  from a lord/prince it might even helpwith chipping wounds off tanks.

At strength 6 they are not doing much against tanks, at least in my experience. The only success I've had with the bloat drones, albeit great success, is with the flamers against T3 chaff. 2d6 auto hits after advancing, wounding on 2's rerolling ones. Then I like to run them into things and force the explosion when they die hahaha. I've never had any luck with the blight launcher or mower. 4+ BS/WS just makes me sad.

I agree, on their own they are not that effective. If (IF) you can keep them in range of the buffs they need, then they can be good. The HBL has a range of 36" plus it's 10" move, Its not to difficult to keep it back within range of buffs and still reach out and say hello.

That's the thing though, my flamer bloat drones have done more damage by exploding (either naturally or thanks to strat) then with shooting. I just roll so bad on the number of hits that I haven't ever cleared a 10man chaff squad with a single bloat drone.

I think they should be cheaper.

They will be as long as DG stays poopy. We have the lowest mono faction win rate after inquisition, and let's be honest that's not even a full faction. We need better mechanics. Time will tell with 9th.
