Considering the quality of the DA stuff from FW i expected the Lion to look good, and i am not disapointed. I might actually consider getting it, despite my dislike for resin and FW tipical overpricing.

I wonder that now that the Lion is in 30K, will GW relese him for 40K. I would gladly wait for that instead.

I'm getting two. One as a display piece, one as a gaming piece (the latter will be magnetized).

My issue: Helmet or bare head for the display piece?

If Guilliman's model in 40k is any indication.... I'll prefer Lion's 30k model over his eventual 40k version thank you very much. Not a fan of the ridiculously over filigreed Guilliman model. The more restrained 30k model is way better.

He is good.

Cannot wait to paint him.

33 years playing Dark Angels, they nearly lose me with all this Primaris malarkey, and now Forge World suck me right back in.

Excellent.

Love this model, beautiful sculpt. Hope I don't derail this thread, but I need to throw this out there. Holguin is Cypher. The Lion's blade hilt and handle are the exact same as the one on the recent Cypher model, and we all know Holguin was given the Lion's blade to take care of after it was broken by Bobby G. Just my take on it after seeing the Lion. Can't wait to get him.

Must say, after years and years of waiting, I was terrified I'd be underwhelmed, glad that it isn't happening!

As we see in the Russ primarch novel:

The blade is repaired again and back in th primarch's hands by the time Lion is on Terra

:censored: YEAH! Now hopefully the 40k version of the Lion won't be too far behind! Were there any news when he will be available to purchase?

Also when I find out that person who designed the cheesy asf Lion introduction, there will be a reckoning, plasma style!

Obligatory and heartfelt praise for the model.

Some interesting stuff came up in the conversation with Andy Hoare following the reveal.

The Lion's primarch keywords are:
Resolve
Virtue
Ruthless
Efficient
Tactical & Strategic
Valorous
Monster Hunter (Knight Errant - his role in the Crusade)

The Lion didn't ask many questions about being requested to deploy to Thramas because it played into him being Virtuous, punishing the criminals, laying the Emperor’s judgement down.

The Wolf Blade rules are designed to play up the Monster Hunter (hence the +3 Str to get to Str 10). The Lion Blade was used under normal circumstances, going after characters and infantry.

The only thing it confirms is that the new model of Cypher actually carries the Lion Sword. Dark Angel novel spoilers:

There's some lines in Gav Thorpe's Dark Angels books that hint at Cypher being Zaharial or possibly Zaharial's psyche in Corswin's body.

Started with the hobby in the 90s and left, as you do, for quite a number of years before really getting back into it a few years ago. The heresy always intrigued me then and I was delighted when I discovered forgeworld had designed miniatures for this setting. Since then my hobby world has been leading up to this moment! It seems like an age has passed! I have been elated at the new releases and the Lion has really blown me away. All hobby resources for this year will be going towards finishing my First Legion force. Can wait for the release!

I would also like to echo a previous post. Can't wait to see what Lostrael does with it!

I really want him! But I'm afraid I wouldnt be able to do him justice! He'd be a show piece only, I dont play 30k and dont intend to start either.

Would I paint him in 30k colors or 40k successor colors?? Questions questions! He'd be a good stand in for when 40k Lion gets released! Itll probably be the better sculpt anyways
