Okay, so I'm having a conversation with my brother and my dad about the rules regarding consolidation. No answers have been found online about the specific debate we're having.

So the question is, can a unit that charged opponent's unit A, consolidate into opponent's unit B after completely annihilating unit A at the end of the fight phase? I say yes you can, and so does my dad. My brother says no, since you're no longer within 1" of an enemy unit, therefore you can't consolidate since you're no longer fighting, apparently. That doesn't make much sense to me, or my dad. It doesn't say you have to be fighting, it just says you can consolidate.

Can someone please clarify?

Nothing requires you to be within 1" of an enemy to make your consolidation move.

You activate your unit to fight with, you resolve all its attacks and then you consolidate towards the nearest enemy (or stand still if you decide to) regardless of the outcome of the attacks. This is all done in one swoop while the unit is activated and before you move on to activate the next unit.

Now if you had two of your units in the same combat and one of them wiped the enemy unit you can't activate your other unit anymore because there's no enemy within 1" and thus can't consolidate with that one. Perhaps your brother is getting things mixed up and thinks about that scenario instead?

Unless that second unit charged this turn. A unit can be chosen to fight an consolidate if it is within 1" of an enemy or it charged this turn.

That makes sense. I do believe he did possibly get mixed up with that one. Lol. We settled it and he agrees now. Thanks for the help Panzer!
