Marshal Rohr
Not really. If people want to get to the root of toxicity in gaming communities it’s the stupid little tribes they’ve aligned themselves with political changing the nature of online interaction. People aren’t really arguing over how boltguns work anymore. It’s all posturing waiting for someone to drag politics into it. Look at reddit. Look at 4chan. Look at Facebook. It’s gross and juvenile. Rob P
Delete if not permitted, but the Worst Best Sellers podcast episode on Ready Player One might add something to the discussion here. It's a bit of a meta critique but potentially relevant. Not really. If people want to get to the root of toxicity in gaming communities it’s the stupid little tribes they’ve aligned themselves with political changing the nature of online interaction. Many 40k forums and sites have done a super job of staying apolitical spaces by banning political discussions and memes. I personally find this to be super healthy for the community because politics is irrelevant to the hobby and, as you suggest, tribalism promotes toxic behavior. Kelborn
=][= Ladies and Gentlemen, this thread has lost its course and purpose. It drove off miles away from the original discussion and we are running in circles. Thus, this thread will be closed. =][= Edited April 28, 2020 by Kelborn aa.logan and Roomsky 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362962-is-the-drive-for-canonicity-or-continuity-in-fan-cu-toxic/page/11/#findComment-5513778 Share on other sites
