Tamwulf
Taking a second look at the Impulsor transport. This idea of 4 Impulsors, all loaded up with Intersessors w/ auto boltrifles, some HQ models (Captain, Librarian, Lt's), and the Impulsors with Shield Domes. Turn 1, deploy 12", move 14", disembark 3", move 6", then 24" range on auto boltrifles- that's 59" threat range. Can also use the Boltstorm strat where a squad's auto boltrifle auto hits at half range. From just 4 Impulsors, that's 60 auto boltrifle shots and 32 storm bolter shots- or a total of 92 S4 AP- D1 shots, without the character's shots. That's before Warlord traits, chapter traits, strategems, etc. etc. For support, maybe a pair of Repulsor Executioners? The characters- Captain with P-fist(Fist of Terra) and plasma pistol, Librarian with say, Tectonic Purge or maybe Might of Hero's (for the Captain)? Lt's are well, Lt's. Could possibly swap out the Librarian for a Chaplain for the Litenies (some are pretty good these days) or maybe an Ancient? Maybe 50/50 Intersessors/Hellblasters instead? Was also thinking of maybe two Invictor Warsuits? Has anyone tried this? What was the result? Lemondish
I do know there was a pretty successful pre-PA list with Space Wolves running a whole boatload of Impulsors. Now, the key there was to use the 4++ invuln to get them into combat as soon as physically possible. In which case, with IF relying far more on the shooting phase rather than combat like Space Wolves, I imagine the shield domes are a bit less useful for this army. I wonder if the missile launcher for first turn alpha strike against vehicles would be worth considering. Pretty sure it's the same points cost, and you'll probably be drawing more fire towards those Invictors or Repulsors since the units loaded in the Impulsors are decent but aren't your full hammer strike. I'd stay away from Hellblasters. They're such a huge trap unit that doesn't really have much going for it except for the mathhammer, which is much harder to maximize in a real game than you'd think. I personally think the Invictors are super cool, but you'll want to avoid heavy reliance on their forward deployment. Last thing you need is a screening unit charging it and tarpitting it while you can't peel back the screen.
