sitnam
Hello, I'm hoping to pick up the new Immolator kit once my local store reopens; I was wondering what techniques and paints people have been using to paint the stained glass gun-shield. Brother Tyler
I'm just guessing (since I haven't painted any stained glass gun-shields or canopies), but anyone "painting" them with the intent of achieving a glass-like result is probably using inks, washes, and other translucent mediums (including watering colors down for [more] translucence). Lord Grimskull
Yeah, I'm going to try either watering down a wash or maybe contrast paint thinned with the medium. Thin coats are key! walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363101-immolator-stained-glass/#findComment-5503711 Share on other sites
walter h
My earlier post was, based on a immolater that came with a clear plastic gun shield. Casual Heresy
I saw on Twitter today, someone painted all the glass panels with Lahmian Medium first before applying thin layers of contrast paints. Some colours need more than one thin layer but it looked really good. Aqui
I did have a link saved showing how to achieve this, but I can't find it now :( If I find it, I'll share it here :) sitnam and Lemondish 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363101-immolator-stained-glass/#findComment-5503778 Share on other sites

Any chance you can post a link of what you saw? sitnam 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363101-immolator-stained-glass/#findComment-5503975 Share on other sites

vossyvo
Hope this linking is allowed. Apologies if not. I was actually watching a Vince Venturella youtube video today and painting stained glass came up in 5 uses for Varnishes, and I thought of this topic. Tip #5 @8:15 in the Video - Painting Clear Surfaces / Stained Glass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6Ww5iAP250 Looks like a pretty decent result. walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363101-immolator-stained-glass/#findComment-5508733 Share on other sites
