So I really played today!

Damn, all those mini Alphariuses make me thoroughly regret having sold my Alpha Legion. They be so ... uniform.

Also, happy to see Samus approaching !

We have a new player in our local HH group.

He had a Warhound Scout Titan and a handful of Secutarii laying around¹ and was wondering what he could do with them.

There is an Optional Detachment for Titans in the Mechanicum book, which is actually meant to be taken in addition to a prime detachment.

In other words, you can't just take it because you need a main army for it. The 25% point limit for Lord of War is also not lifted, just like the Scout Titan.

It doesn't matter, we don't care.

If the man wants to play a Titan accompanied by a bunch of Skitarii, let him do it.

He was so enthusiastic that he printed himself a Reaver Titan and I think thirty Skitarii.²

Really cool.

Normally I would never play a full Heavy Support Squad with lascannons, but against two Titans you can do that, so I just sat down and painted something.

This is going to look so cool.

Am I the only one hobbying?

Maybe!  I've been doing massive batches of non-HH stuff since the recon squad.  I need to buy two more kits for my infantry and one or two more kits for my bikers, then I'll be doing all 100+ models at once!  So at the moment it's just a hobby-budget thing (but my birthday is soon!!!) then I'll get them all done over the summer (optimistically)...  I think it'll take me three months to do as I've done 100 models in a month before but they were all prepared beforehand and then I burnt out for a month so spreading it over three seems sensible.

My Raven Guard Indomitus Squad is nearly there. Just a few details to go, then transfers and basing. I thought they were a little bit too identical so I gave the Sergeant a (not very obvious) chainfist and one of them a (very obvious) red arm, marking him as a former Deliverer.

I now have a plan to resurrect some very old bikers I made years ago, to use as outriders. I converted some tactical marines to ride scout bikes. I think I'd just run them with bolters as a bit of variety from all the infantry in my army.

Time is frustratingly short though, and that wouldn't be a quick project. Apparently I now need to clear the spare room so my mum doesn’t have to sleep on a pile of boxes when she visits next weekend. I ought to be able to finish these terminators at least though.

I've also got a few bits and pieces, including 10 Chaos Warriors, to start converting up my Sons of Horus. When will I get round to that, if at all? We'll see.

I am looking forward to see them soon and to see your Outriders as well.

Yes, let's go again!

Nope, I'm still at it. My biggest problem right now is GW's supply. I have 3 armies that are at about 90% "complete" but I have bought everything available in plastic and am just waiting for resin products to return to stock. Frustrating.

I'm nearly done with 5 Thralls and a Triaros, though so will hopefully share my progress next week.

I also think it's pretty natural for there to be a dip in hobby efforts/product purchases prior to a new edition. Lots of people just holding off a little or saving for a big box of new minis.

After 2ed killed my Vlka Fenryka project which I was starting I should be cautious as well but as the saying goes:

Rules come and go but models, models stay forever.

So to hell with it!

I just ordered two classical dreadnoughts with arms and everything. 8)

You know?

These:

Bought two plasma cannons and two twin linked heavy Bolters I bought.

My plan is to build an Iron Warriors one with double Shrapnel cannon and one with the plasma. The dreadnought cannon has the big template so that is going to be very useful to blast big blobs of marines.

Out of curiosity, what part of the project became no longer feasible due to 2.0 ?

Pride changed so that we can only take one fast and heavy slots. Lucky me I wanted a dreadclaw, a termite and a unit of javelins in fast and three heavy units (can't remember what that was exactly).

I think it was a Heavy Support Squad with Plasma Cannons and a Scorpion.

And of course the cha ge on how deep strike and drop pods work. Both termite and dreadclaw bow just appear like general reserves at some ploint decided by dice role which is to risky for what I wanted not to mention reserves which just casually blast them from the table the moment the arrive.

There were other things which didn't work anymore and I had just a couple of units with no concept how to field them. In order to make them viable again I would have buy, build and paint additional units and I didn't want to do that.

It felt so unnecessary and forced that I lost my motivation to do that.

But I recently started to fancy playing at least a couple of units as allied detachment for my Alpha Legion army in a Möbius Configuration.

You know that Alpha Legion Warlord trait? It basically makes one Legion of choice fellow warriors, removes their ability to react but the enemy do not gain any victory points for killing them and if they all die the Alpha Legion side gains 1 victory point.

This is a classic win win scenario and Vlka Fenryka seem to be the oerfect candidate for that. Play them hyper aggressive and no matter the outcome,  I win.

Agree completely but I am trying very hard to finish projects before starting new ones. I've been semi-successful so far this year.

I feel for you on the edition change issues. I had started plans for a Solar Auxilia army which wasn't going to be with FW models as that would break my hobby budget. The rules change hurt that army so much that even as a cultist ally for my AL I lost interest. I'm already too much of an army butterfly, AL spoil me with choice, that I need to keep a little focus or I'll never finish projects. I'm currently working on my hvy support choices for my DG with several squads of basic infantry on order. While looking at my army as I set my list to finish I noticed I only had one unit of 10 tactical marines, I usually just field two units of 15 assault marines. Otherwise I'm 90% done with a cataphacti command squad that I promised myself for a few years I'd build rather than just sit my praetor with gravewarden or deathshroud.
