Just did a prototype for a Scouring-era Son of Horus. I am trying to represent them as they are fighting from their defeat at Terra towards the EoT, with a mix of whatever equipment and arms they can scavenge, and as hardened veterans (so a lot of personalisation for each one).

Ive used a Chaos marine as a base, removing the chaos iconography and other chaosy bits, adding some Heresy and 3d printed bits. Not sure if I will do any more of these so will just see how he paints!

That tank picture is ace.

Thx for that little report.

Grand model. Really cool.

I will definitly build me more characters as well. In perticular I am goibg to make a sergeant for my tacticals with a tablet in hand to let him link like a master sergeant of the depot or whatever the legions call it.

I as well had my probably last game of 2ed yesterday:

In a display of Prussian virtues such as manliness, daring, and mental derangement, two players gathered today in the attic at a pleasant 45 degrees Celsius to devote themselves to the noblest of all hobbies. The honorable Iron Warriors faced off against the treacherous Alpha Legion in a battle to chase after a bouncing objective.

The deployment of the Iron Warriors was an impressive sight of iron and brutality, but before their exemplary leader could give the order to fire, he disintegrated into tiny shreds before the eyes of his bodyguard. A murderous team of Alpha Legion assassins had stealthily approached undetected and disintegrated him with forbidden technology. Though all visible assassins were gunned down in return fire, the damage was done, and the enemy had seized the initiative.

Behind the massive war robots of the Warsmith, the Domitars advanced to show everyone that they alone deserved the honor of protecting Perturabo’s hairy ass—only to be blown to pieces in a hail of las-blasts and a violent energy wave from the conversion beam cannon of the enemy Predator. The Iron Warriors struck back with everything they had, destroying the enemy’s tanks and shooting down every foe they could see. At the height of the battle, the Warsmith even slew the enemy general in a manly duel—but it was all in vain. The relentless barrage of missiles, sniper rounds, and bolter fire prevented them from seizing the wandering objective, and so they were defeated and forced to retreat.

Sadly it was a very one sided affair because the bouncy objective jumped into my side of the table and satyed there. 12:2 was the result.

45 celcius? Where were you gaming, Olympus Mons?

Great report, right back at you. Did the Warsmith take the hydras' head as a trophy before retreating*?

*Advancing in the opposite direction.

I may have exaggerated the temperature for dramatic purposes. :whistling:

Tis was around 32 degrees outsides in the shadows and god knows how hot inside of the hobby room.

At one point a hobbit showed up and threw a ring at us.

Funny enough it is even half true because one of our club memebera showed up later to have a chin wag with us and he is really tiny.

Like 5'3 or smth.

Since he killed him with his Thunderhammer I think he doesn't had a head left to take as trophy.

that's what we get if we try to be more honourable :starwars:

Almost finished with the first big squad. Bases need one round of Agrax. I haven't painted an entire squad in decades (yes, I'm that old!) let alone this fast!

PXL_20250615_200254179~2.jpg

Looking great. You should aint whole squads fast more often. :D

after seeing 3.0 requires 3k point armies for its missions i threw together a 3k point army for militia (assuming they get rules and no major changes)  its 136 guys on horseback and some artillery :D

im gonna be painting perry minis until 4.0 drops.

Oh man, I feel you. What pieces do you use for artillery?

il use the big Krieg earth shakers for the guns, Perry french heavy cavalry with lances from another kit, and their Prussian infantry for footborn troops

Hyper fixated today on working on my Istvaan 3 board. I don't know when I'll exactly finish this, but I got a lot done. Ran out of the paint I need to do the ground on the second tile, but did great progress on the non-buildings part of this one.

I'm gonna need a lot of washes for this one. Any suggestions on bulk brown washes? Heh.

Have you considered making your own?  Pick your desired brown and add matte medium and some flow aid.  It might need water added too; it’s been awhile since I did this and I don’t often paint large surfaces like your board.   It might be cheaper overall if that matters.  It will definitely be easy to make a large bulk quantity to use.

Also - the tiles look awesome!

Eric's Hobby Workshop has a few ways of doing that sort of thing - I'd recommend that Hungry Nostraman Lizard gives them a watch

I also use Perry miniatures. They are really great.

You have to post your progress here, the Heresy needs more militias!

Can't decide what I do next. Leman Russ alternative or cavalry? Or both?

They are allied to some astartes so the rules ive self imposed is no tanks in the milita only in the astartes. Il post some wips later when im home.

At last I finished a tactical squad. I have more or less found the paint scheme moving forward. Next in line is a contemptor, the use of skulls and flayed skin will start to increase from now on haha. The tacticals are barebones by design except for the sergeant, maybe later on I will add some nostraman runes to the squad.

These new kits are limited in poses, but I just mixed the arms to different bodies, there is not that much variation, but I still like the kit, a compromise. Eagerly waiting for the new legion rules honestly.

In my lgs there is still a box of the mk3 battlegroup, really tempted to get it (My 30k collection started with 2nd edition).

Not going to lie...personally...the saturnine stuff looks really nice...like I really like it.

Just wish these were rules for using them in 40k...

however they are tempting for trying 30k but sadly no-one in my area does 30k

All it takes is one person with two collections to get an interest going. (part 1)

The easiest solution is to buy two whole armies and let the people in your area try it out with one

...and that's how my community started over 8 years ago now, and rapidly grew to 20 ish people across the tristate area of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania. (Part 2)

As it grew from 2 people interested, then 3, than 5 - others heard about it and started bringing out their old collections. (Had played previously, but didn't take initiative to start it up on their own)

We got some very saucy ones on the last page, and- oh, wait. Wrong kind of tease.

I am definitely warming up to the Saturnine Dreadnought, though I will also say I do wish it wasn't so absurdly huge. I feel like the Leviathan should be the upper limit for Dreadnought size. That said the design is great, really cool looking model.

I agree, I think i'd love both Saturnine models if they weren't so massively huge. My poor box-naughts...

Been too busy with work and personal life to really hobby lately, so I've just been taking photos of my Night Lords and posting them all over socials to self-inspire. Or, at least, the parts of the collection I didn't do a million years ago and want to strip. That said, here's one of my 3 (yes, only 3! 25 models total!) Terror Squads. Lots of C/SM bits, plastic MK IV, plastic mark IIIa, printed bionics (that were way over sized and I needed to saw through to get them to scale), and lots of green stuff work.
