I tend to find I get more milage out of buying second hand miniatures, then taking them all apart.  For example Chaos Powerpacks cost around £1.50 each, but a second hand squad of 10 can be as low as £10 for the old style CSMs or around £20 for the new style of CSM.  Though I did once buy one from an epoxy enthusiast which was a right old pain...

That's a great idea! Will keep that in mind next time! Thanks brother!

That is excellent @Brother Kraskor, I like the spot colour green and glowing eyes especially.

Working on a Sons of Horus Reaver squad. Using Khorne Berserkers as a base, removed the pointy stars and khorne marks (which are on *every* bloody surface, am getting through some knife blades! ) and mixed in some marine bits from other kits.

Love these sons of Horus @Pacific81. Did anyone claim the nerd points yet? I believe a shotgun from the plastic Goliath in the nineties Nwcromunda launch box?

Thanks mate! No you are the first to recognise it, nice one. Had been in the bits box for a few years!

Denied! Next time don’t hide a beauty like that in the spoiler. I wonder if I have one anywhere - I think we got one free with White Dwarf, but I might have the autogun version…

love the poses @Cadmus Tyro, gives them beautiful weight and movement. Has converted me to them!

Have finished a couple more Sons of Horus Veterans. Firstly, squad Sergeant. Once again used a Chaos Marine as a base, with some Heresy and Archie's Forge bits mixed in. Going for a Cthonian Gang members theme (Scouring-era survivors), added a few runes to the weaponry.

And a running guy.. they had a few running SoH in the Collected Visions art books so wanted to reference that.

With this, I'm think to reuse some few csm in more horus heresy marines...

Some more WIP veterans. Tried to make the Multi-Melta guy look like a Crusade-era veteran (or John Blanche drawing of that) used some of the new mkii bits and some shoulder pads from God-knows where. The gun is from a previous Night Lords army, which was one of the first things I posted on this forum I think back in 2002!

Finally got my hands on this guy.

What a guy.

But... Oh no, instead of a dashing mustachio

...he got a toilet seat!

So David Brent instead of Magnum P.I.!

"Here in the 38th Siege Cohort, nothing works without me! I'm practically the Dorn among the Perturabos, if you know what I mean..."

He, probably.

@Pacific81 Nice work. And another proof that models endure.

2002 bought and used today.

In that perspective they aren't even that expansive. ;)

Some excellent hobby going on as usual.

I took a bit of a break, but i'm back, this time with a new Legion. Emperor's Children. Regardless if I go with third ed or stick to second, I wanted to invoke a veteran feel to this unit. Now as a bonus, if I want to, I hear I can run them as such (Veteran HSS) in third, but if I stick to second, this will just be flavor.

I'm going to sculpt military parade braids onto his left shoulder pad for some more third Legion flavor.

A friend of mine is good with Midjourney and made this animation. I have to say, incredible but terrifying at the same time and the first time I've encountered future shock!

Amazing!

It is actually frightening! In the way that it is able to extrapolate (although does get things wrong, looking at the one I posted it has removed the eye lenses and replaced with eyes, for example).

Have finished off a couple more guys. Firstly, a Veteran armed for 'close encounters'. The shotgun is from an old Necromunda Goliath, Archie's Forge for the helmet and I added studs to the shoulder pad.

Then the first of a Reaver unit. Really struggled with getting the black right, at one point I dampened down the black too much and after about an hour of effort it basically just looked like it had been primed! I used a Khorne Berserker as a base, with bits from 30k kits. Those guys like their symbol bling so took a lot of filing and sanding to remove it all.

Finally a shot showing the lovely backgrounds from the John Hodgeson sci-fi backdrops book

I managed to reach this point on my 10x plasmagun TSS some time ago. It took me almost a full year due to work and other issues. Started in HH2 with artificer sergeant and will complete it in HH3 without lots of things needed. The sergeant carries an auspex on his backpack but I will probably have to attach another one on a normal guy for the rules.

They are missing markings and eye lenses which I want to complete in the next few sessions so that they may see play soon.

Mitsman

A WIP Centurion for my Sons of Horus. Just having a bit of fun with it with a custom head. I watched a 1970s WW2 film a while back, Bridge at Remegen, which featured a number of Hollywood stars as members of the German army as it retreated at the end of the war. I like to imagine something similar being done around the Scouring and the SoH retreat, which might have been fun!

His wolf pelt is made from a Space Wolf cloak, and is again a mix of Chaos and 30k bits.

Also below is a marine made from the new mkii kit, who has a few extra bits added, including an old needle pistol from the RTB01 set.

built a unit of recon marines with shotguns over the weekend, a new Blood angels character, and the walker solar aux character from Edgar Skomorowski which will be a mounted force commander for my BA allied solar.

Not having an airbrush is killing my painting progress though.
