[Shard of Magnus]

Slowly progressing on my Luna Wolves. Took advantage of spare time yesterday to work on one of my rhinos. Still need to do more on the bolters and treads, and then commit to decals and weathering.

 

 

Need to decide if I want to try a white ink to bring out more of the white highlights too.

 

Having gotten this far, there are a number of items I could change that would halve the painting time although probably also alter the color tones.  Not sure if I want to try that for the next one or stick with it for consistency.

Decided on a new army for all the MKII marines I've now got. Test boy done for the scheme and I'm really happy with it. Ticks all the boxes for an army project for me - it's fairly quick, uses techniques I enjoy doing, is a bit grimy, and uses a colour I've not really painted much before. 

 

Couple of tweaks that I'll make when I roll it out, but for now it's building time.

Love it! Very effective scheme. The small spot colour on the knee pad really sets it off as well I think.

I have finished off a couple more SoH Veterans. Firstly, heavy weapons guy. He is a mix of Chaos marine, the new MkII marines and some shoulder pads from I know not were (old metal ones!) 

 

 

Then another Veteran, stalking his prey in the ruins of an underhive. Armed with a Volkite, just because the description made it sound like the gun from District 9 (this is the level of analysis that goes into my army choices! :) )

very slow progress on my EC but have nearly finished this guy up. converted him from the cataphractii warsmith, which is a great sculpt :D this is the 299th company's captain, Lazonus Muzaneel. Going to run him as a Centurion and maybe as a Praetor in some lists (even if he is, fluff-wise, meant to be a centurion).

If I really really wanted I'd just add the long barrel to my Dominator and play her as proxy for the Tormentor.

 

But now the new one is gonna be a clasic Baneblade.

Just finished another Reaver. Based from the Khorne Berserker kit, dont know if its OTT (although guess it is hard not to be with twin lighting claws!)

@Pacific81I've been using Berzerker bits to kitbash my World Eaters and have trimmed a bit here and there but you are a madman! Well worth your efforts though, they are looking awesome.

Full set! I've only got ten tacticals (not sure what to make them into yet) and one terminator (saving for a saturnine command squad) left from the box. I've enjoyed it, great kits and now my EC are struggling to fit on my shelf! 
 

I like the Reaver using Khorne zerker kit. I've always thought there's a lot to be said for clever use of 40k kits for the traitor legions, and this works well imo!

Finished building my first Veteran Support. Used a Chaos Havoc as the base. I've made a difficult choice to use a mk7 helmet (with targeting-type bits) but as this is a scouring-era force I guess this should be lore accurate?

Absolutely. The Legions basically looked very chaotic in that period already and it is absolutely viable that this chap had get test helmet somewhere.

 

I've made some progress on my Baneblade. 

I've made one years ago and remember it as being a fun kit to build which kind of is true but damn the mould lines on this thing are from hell. 

And the instructions are just pictures without any numbers on the different parts. So I have to guess where to find them which makes is unecessary tedious.

I have finished a first character for my Sons of Horus, a Centurion. @Agramar_The_Luna_Wolf made an interesting post elsewhere in the forum about helmet crests and certain legions using them. We know the Lunar Wolves did when they had a more noble aspect and much of this was lost as they descended into barbarity. But with this Centurion I wanted to try and bring some of that nobility and Roman-esque look across, using the wolf pelt which I green-stuffed from a Space Wolf cloak, the roman numerals and him drawing his sword as if to answer a challenge. There is still the look of bitter menace, he has done some bad things, but there is still the heart of the once noble Astartes in there somewhere.
