Shard of Magnus Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Started blocking out the black and metallic areas on some tactical marines, mostly working on the bonding studs during a bit of free time this evening. I regret not painting the pads black and just picking the studs out with metallic highlights! Still lots of dark areas to block out. After that I will touch up the white where I’ve gotten messy. Eye sight and hand steadiness is not what it used to be, which is part of why I think I’ve been avoiding working on these the last month+. Kick off of my local group’s semi-narrative campaign is this weekend. So far behind where I wanted to be with the Luna Wolves…but I’m trying to get back into a schedule. Pacific81 Posted yesterday at 09:14 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:14 AM (edited) Very nice job @Shard of Magnus! The studs work well, I find that a very tricky area to finish cleanly. At the other end of the timeline to that, I have finished work on my first scouring-era Cataphractii. I know these are getting a new kit, but I really like the old one. Quite a lot of blank spaces (I guess they had to try and make them Legion agnostic) which has left space to add details and accessories. LameBeard Posted yesterday at 09:40 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:40 AM Amazing work on the chainmail. I never got the plastic cataphractii because the loss of detail from the resin kit bugged me - specifically that rivet at the end of each leather strap. But resin is a pain and those terminators have not moved forward in my painting queue. I should have kept my Calth ones … Pacific81 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363129-30k-hobby-chat/page/171/#findComment-6143033 Share on other sites
Pacific81 Posted yesterday at 10:08 AM Share Posted yesterday at 10:08 AM Thanks mate! I will be honest, I cheat: GreenStuffWorld do a chainmail template. It is a soft rubber with the pattern on, you just use it as a press for your GS. It takes some practice but you can almost get a sculpted-look finish with it. So what you are saying is, I should buy the chainmail press, some plastic cataphractii, carve out their leather straps and replace with GS chainmail? derLumpi Posted yesterday at 03:24 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:24 PM Brothers, some wisdom is needed. I'm thinking of building some deathstorm drop pods. Did any of you build some? Any ideas what kind of bits (GW or non GW) I could use?
