Shard of Magnus Posted November 19 Share Posted November 19 Started blocking out the black and metallic areas on some tactical marines, mostly working on the bonding studs during a bit of free time this evening. I regret not painting the pads black and just picking the studs out with metallic highlights! Still lots of dark areas to block out. After that I will touch up the white where I’ve gotten messy. Eye sight and hand steadiness is not what it used to be, which is part of why I think I’ve been avoiding working on these the last month+. Kick off of my local group’s semi-narrative campaign is this weekend. So far behind where I wanted to be with the Luna Wolves…but I’m trying to get back into a schedule. At the other end of the timeline to that, I have finished work on my first scouring-era Cataphractii. I know these are getting a new kit, but I really like the old one. Quite a lot of blank spaces (I guess they had to try and make them Legion agnostic) which has left space to add details and accessories. I never got the plastic cataphractii because the loss of detail from the resin kit bugged me - specifically that rivet at the end of each leather strap. But resin is a pain and those terminators have not moved forward in my painting queue. It is a soft rubber with the pattern on, you just use it as a press for your GS. Shard of Magnus Posted November 23 Share Posted November 23 Yesterday was the start of my local group's semi-narrative campaign themed around the Siege of Mezoa. The launch event was 2 linked battles: a 1v1 Zone Mortalis representing a traitor attack on an orbital defense grid control center, and a 3v3 for a beach head assault on the forge world. The 73rd Luna Wolves were part of the beach head assault. This was also my first game fielding more than 2000 points. Ideally it wouldn't have been in a 3v3 match, but my schedule has not been the most accommodating of late. Picture is at start of turn 1 with one of my WIP Sicarans out in front of part of the dark mech player's forces. This was shortly before the Sicaran would come out on the losing side of a gun fight with a large size melta attack bike squad. My buddy is playing Black Shields and played some stuff with EC. He had two Land Speeders, Contemptor, Vindicator with Laser and some Infantry. I had my force commander on horse, one Cavalry Squad with 15 dudes and one Squad with 10, a field gun battery with 2 heavy Lascannons, 7 Ogryns, 20 dudes with lasrifle, one Leman Russ and a Malcador. Really fun game. I lost 6:3 but again a fun game.
