greatcrusade08
So with the lock down making me less busy now, ive been tinkering with the idea of putting together a tenth company again using some primaris models. ofc im kind of stuck for sources to draw from, so i figured id ask here about ideas for units and combinations, as i know little about the new units i havent played 40k in some time, but am currently working on themed army found here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/361815-ww2-themed-ig-new-project/. from what i can understand the new "vanguard" primaris elements are infiltrators, reavers and eliminators (snipers). and lore wise im guessing old scouts will be phasing out. So im asking what combinations work well, how have your experiences coloured your views on these units and lets theory craft a decent themed list, that i can work on when we are all free again. Brother, in case this is an issue, I think I have good news for you. Long story short, Scouts are still part of the Space Marine developmental process (not phased out). Previously: Firstborn recruits start as Scouts in 10th Company, then graduate into Power Armour going to the other Companies Now: Primaris recruits start as Scouts in 10th Company as they have still not grown up to their full height (like they haven't gotten the implants that make them grow full Primaris height), as they grow in size and experience they "move up a class" still in 10th Company with Phobos Armour, in those new roles. Then they graduate into Tacticus Power Armour (i.e. Intercessors' armour) and go to the other Companies This was super-briefly described in this 1- or 2-page "life of a Space Marine" blurb in the new Codex. I always wanted to do conversions for something like this, like maybe a Scout Sergeant is actually a little older than the rest of his squad, and is slowly growing out of his Scout armour? Like maybe a conversion for a stop-gap armour between that and Phobos armour. For bitz, Necromunda's scale is a little bit taller than what we're used to, but not quite as tall as Primaris. We were just brainstorming in the store once. Not saying they couldn't be a Primaris Sergeant, but the point is that Scout Sergeants are already fully matured Astartes. This isn't actually made clear in the 8th Edition Codex, but it's been a part of Astartes lore for a while. greatcrusade08
yeah i believe someone used to write a lot about the scout lore a while back here talking specifically about new primaris scout options, what are your thoughts, do they fit well in a new army, should i go for mixed old and new, or go deep with primaris only?
