Hutley1212
I have been a veteran player for a few years but my primaris roster is growing. I have been looking at the 5 auto bolt and 5 aggressors (or 4 and 1 inceptor) and yes obviously they look insanely powerful BUT... are they worth the 280+point investment. What is your experience of them. Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363226-goon-squad-worth-it-or-not/ Share on other sites
Black Knight
I think they are worth it, but I only have one as it is a lot of points in one basket(Definitely take an Inceptor for the tactical choice of falling back, sometimes you do not want to get caught up with chaff with just a few heavy hitting melee attacks). I teleport it into the fight mainly to scare the living crap out of whoever I am playing :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363226-goon-squad-worth-it-or-not/#findComment-5506588 Share on other sites
Sloeberjong
Yeah, they're worth it. I've got a unit every time I play DW. I use 4 aggressors and 1 inceptor. I also give the sergeant a power fist so it's another bunch of those in cc. They wreck face when they come teleporting in and with T5 not easy to shift either. Mr4Minutes
I’d also say yes, a must include. It’s not a bully unit that can sit in the middle of the table and eat shots. It has counters(plasma, 2D weapons etc) But it’s durable and versatile. And with the addition of combat doctrines the ability to add ap-1 to all its shooting is going to be fantastic. I also add a power fist on the srgt(although I think that’s about to turn into a Thunder Hammer). And deploy from DS. My personal suggestion is to deploy just within maximum range, which is 18”, to shoot with every model. No reason to overcommit the unit. With the ability to advance and shoot at full BS the unit is also very mobile. tychobi
Would the goon squad be the gold standard of what DW can bring to a soup list? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363226-goon-squad-worth-it-or-not/#findComment-5507016 Share on other sites
Black Knight
That and the new sniper teams, 10 character hitting Intercessor squads are just nasty. Mr4Minutes
Possibly, but that depends on what you’re souping with. I think SB/SS vets with termies and a vanguard vet are the gold standard squad to include in soup lists.
