theprophetofwar
The more I thought about this, and typed, the more I realized it's probably two separate but very related topics: the value of paying for a second warlord trait(and possible relic), and Phobos uses. I'm trying to leverage good ways to set up and use my Christmas sale Phobos priest and ten Infiltrators/incursors, and I've been looking at more dual battalion ideas. I feel like Phobos is great thematically for wolves, and I'm wondering how many to use, and in what primary way. How best to set up a few squads? Is a second warlord trait best used from the book sagas or leveraging Lord of deceit? Master of the vanguard? What are some complimentary combos I may not be seeing? Should I shush and wait for the unit of the week discussion? Broader army ideas are fine but these are the base things I'm struggling to nail down. As for playstyle mentality, I usually use the tried and true wulfen stone/wolfkin saga buff assault on my hqs and I'm glad we can branch out more. No, I'm not expecting some lvo beating uber-list, yes I know the impulsor rush is a great idea, for now I'm just wanting to get the most out of this little Phobos set up. Salty Beard
Have you run them yet? I’m getting back into the swing of things and had an idea like this too, however I’m not up to speed with the new rules 100% (... I played a little in 7th Ed, most in 4th and 3rd) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363255-hero-of-the-chapter-and-vanguardphobos/#findComment-5511372 Share on other sites
Kassill
Yeah that article really sold me on Incursors, plus they just look really cool. I've got 5 more to build soon and definitely want to get another 10 man down the road. theprophetofwar
I have had a couple of games using min squads of infiltrators, incursors, Phobos rune priest and intercessor backfield. I was happy enough with them. They didn't do a ton of damage, but they added a huge amount of board control and pressure. I hadn't read anything as I depth as that article before the game, just general thoughts. I do think that playstyle will be more my style going forward, and I plan on buying more Phobos than intercessors... if for no other reason than it's different to my other playstyles and it's fun. After the plague of course. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363255-hero-of-the-chapter-and-vanguardphobos/#findComment-5511577 Share on other sites

After the plague of course. That article certainly has me rethinking incursors for when i finally get round to adding primaris into my wolves. Back in 5th I used to play redmaws so that I could have units of grey hunters infiltrating and outflanking, and I think I can just use incursors to play a similar style (still miss my OBEL scouts though haha). Getting that mid field board control will be very useful when combined with stuff like deepstriking wolf guard. theprophetofwar 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363255-hero-of-the-chapter-and-vanguardphobos/#findComment-5512535 Share on other sites
Salty Beard
I have a mostly Phobos army going, what would you add to a heavy infantry list, would you add a dreadnought or a transport for your intercessors and Ragnar? Invictor Warsuits (since they also forward deploy, and are excellent support for Phobos-heavy armies), and Impulsors for the Intercessors.
