Ashen claws theme help.

I'm returning to 30k after a hiatus and looking to do Ashen claws themed blackshields force.

Now I'm gonna use outlanders but how do I arm the marauder sqauds that I'm gonna plan on running? Plasma or melta etc, make them shooty?

Also I wanna run a destroyer themed force. So I wanna aim them with duel pistols and special weapons on there too.

I've got dreads and flyers for back up but I'm planning a pure narrative force for my games. Any help or info on Ashen claws would be awesome.

Whether they are shooty or close combat oriented is up to your personal preference.

They start off with a CC weapons as a standard, and in this case chainaxes would be the preferred weapon.

If on the other hand you want a shooty squad, regular bolters are your best bet. I'm not a huge fan of pariah bolters unless its a game of ZM.

Now in either case arming every fifth Marauder with a plasma gun is arguably the best option, however if you're running Outlanders I'd say that a Xenos Deathlock would be the most fluffy option!

 

But if you're running a narrative force then really its not about min-maxing your force but doing what you want to do, which is half the fun with a force like this :D

For the Ashen Claws you could look at the Xeric pre-Corax Raven Guard, as that's what they're derived from to my understanding. It would also be worth looking at the Early Crusade Equipment Thread, as the Ashen Claws fall into a similar niche as described there.
