Xenith Posted April 21, 2020 Share Posted April 21, 2020 (edited) So, with the addition of the new chaplain prayers, etc which happen at the start of the battle round battle round or player turn, psychic powers that happen in the psychic phase, and other random stuff that happens out of sequence, I thought it might be useful to consolidate all this stuff into a single phase - the 'Psyche' Phase, replacing the current psychic phase. This would take place after the movement phase in the place of the current psychic phase, and include all things to do with the mind/spirit/instinct. Included would be: Psychic powers Chaplain/Dark Apostle litanies Militarum orders Acts of faith, however they work - I havent read the book. Things like Hive Commander on the Swarmlord. Other random things. This evens the playing field with models that cast spells at the start of the turn, but then deepstrike on or something so cannot cast - like TDA or Jump pack equipped chaplians, who currently cannot do anything when they strike in. My original thoughts was to wrap leadership up in there somehow also, but it's too complex with how model removal works now. Thoughts? Condensing all "active buff" abilities in one phase will generate less confusion and will be easier for player to use them as they dont need to memorize when they have to be used. For the leadership thing i will leave it at the end of the turn as it is another thing and keeping track of casualities for another phase (movement) will add complexity, not subtract it. Grimdark_Garage Posted April 27, 2020 Share Posted April 27, 2020 I had this very idea when I was mucking about playing around with ideas for 9th. I called it the command phase. Another idea I had on top of OPs is to grant auras. Usually a SM captain would allow Reroll to all units in 6". But I thought the game would benefit from a character bestowing it's aura on a SINGLE unit in the command phase for use that turn. Also, strategems! A bit like apocalypse. Very VERY unrealistic seeing how you would need to amend the wording on all strategems. Morale needs to be its own phase I think.
