Canon neophyte paint scheme or art depicting them?

Looking to get my Neophytes painted and really don't know what the best scheme is to have them done in. I assume black armor w/ white shoulders, but what about the fabric?  Is it a tan or a gray or straight black?  I can't seem to find any good art or armies that show this very well.

At least in Codex: Armageddon, the depiction of scout fatigues varies from black on the 'Eavy Metal models to tan. If I remember right that one comic series had them in black as well.

 

 

Personally, I think the tan looks best as it breaks up the monotony of just black/white and works well with your power armoured models having tan tabards.

The Black Templars neophytes that Matt Hutson painted in 3rd edition used what looks like an off-white (a very light tan, perhaps):

And How To Paint Space Marines depicted a drawing with a similar off-white for neophytes, but also showed painted models wearing black clothing:

I think they are not consistant - but maybe its different on each crusade / depends on a special era. 

Its not that cannon which is inherent.

I've always thought grey or tan.

Excellent resources and replies.  Thank you all for contributing.  I'm thinking a light grey for my crusade's Neophytes is in order.

I think Ill go for vmc deck tan and off white for my newly acquired metal neophytes when I get around to painting them.
