Your models, and your hobby.

From my (semi-related) experience though, EVERYONE, will comment. Some innocently, some helpfully, a few snidefully. But the most important thing is you do you, tell the story you want, it is your hobby in the end.

Models with emblems looks nicer.  But there is nothing wrong with not having emblems.  A lot of people find applying decals or free handing it troublesome so they don't bother.  But that hasn't stopped them from getting a game at the FLGS where I am from.  I would say 60 to 70 % of the gaming community does not bother with it.

Is it because you want them left blank or not confident to paint the chapter icons on? If so I find transfers are great for that.

Otherwise I doubt many would object, better to have a painted army to play against regardless of markings.

Would anyone even raise an eyebrow?

The most you'd get is an offer to help.

Everyone knows an army is a process, and most are excited to help a fellow fan and want to share their knowledge and reminisce back to when they started out.

If anyone gives you grief over the start of your journey, be polite and back off, as you are talking to 'that guy'. Most clubs know who 'that guy' is, and will probably steer you away from them, so take the hint, and go with the flow.

You'll be fine

Right, that's what I was hoping for :biggrin.:

I don't like to mix transfers and moulded pads and after spending 40+ Bucks per army to get the DW pads for 3 C:SM Battalions and combining them with more ornate pads from the upgrade sprues, I'm getting tired of it.

And now I'm at a point where I could just go all transfers on my new project but frankly, I can't be bothered right now...

Maybe in a few months though :happy.:

I do love the splendor of codex iconography as much as the next guy after all

Edit: Though for all we know, I might not get any games in in the meantime anyway so I probably needn't have worried :ermm:
