Man, I enjoyed his show before but  didn`t know he was into the Hobby, and he actually knows his Stuff!

Edit: Little bit dissapointed that it didn`t actually melt his innards though, not the real Thing, don`t accept substitutes!

DOh shame on me, I don't have any of the licours to mix :sad.:

I actually got mad haha, the viking blod is from my favorite meadery and for whatever reason i cant get anything from them in my area anymore.

No longer brewed   :wallbash:

That was bloody awesome. Unfortunately I can't find Viking Blod easily in the UK... but we do have traditional mead available... :whistling:

Could you link any reliable online retailers? Whenever I've looked I've always struggled to find stuff other than expensive imports.

None that I have used I'm afraid - I am fortunate to have a good local independent that stocks a wide variety of interesting beverages.

Great Video! Had so much :cussing fun with it and sharing it around with friends.

But Space Wolves just can't follow rules.

I'll probably have to look for a different mead anyway, maybe something made around here, that tastes similiar (will have to compare tastings online).

...or make my own!? My neighbor is a beekeeper... huh. I need to research that.

The taste of Absinthe I only like 'pure', not in cocktails. Dunno why, but my tasting capabilities are weird when it comes to some things. (Especially when there's bitter or very unique tastes like licorice)

But I have the feeling Siegfried Gin, to give it that extra bite and burning sensation (and to keep it in theme - after all he was a mythical warrior and dragon slayer!), and maybe even a sip of Flimm, to give it that herby note and a slight greenish tint, could work well. (They are both produced 'around the corner', aswell.)

I will cale it 'Fire Breather Mjod', after the Volcano on Fenris and Wolf of Legend.

So I've been playing with this, and I'm still trying to come up with a good "shot of blood" to put in with the drink - I've got blood orange soda as well as blood orange liquor.

I must say, I might be somewhat in love, but I am probably tearing the :cuss out of my liver - I ended up mixing in 4.5 oz of the Viking Blod, 0.25 oz of absinthe (which I honestly didn't know would be good in a mixed drink), about 1.5 oz of vodka (no everclear), and 0.75 oz of blood orange soda. I think it works - it's an orange-red color and feels pretty potent.

Mjöð y'all!

You guys should look at polish meads. We have a really long tradition of drinking it and have mamy different types. Remember to always drink your mead hot!

I like the combination of 0,5 ice cold kraft beer, a jug of hot mead and a warm shot of moonshine accompanying a nice set of ribs or pork sirloin but that's just me.

If you want some spice them try adding some tabasco to your drinks - u'll get both colour and heat.

No Tabasco here, but I did a little experiment - dripped a bit of Toscana wine into the top of the glass, because the blood orange soda was a bit bright, and the blood orange liqueur turned out to be clear. Looked quite a bit like dark blood dripped into the glass, and actually tastes decent - although even if it doesn't to you, there's enough alcohol content not to care about a few swallows.

I've got three Ashen Stalkers I'm trying to complete tonight - this is gonna be FUN!

  • 5 weeks later...

In case anyone wants to try this and hasn't yet, I finally got around to sourcing the ingredients and having a go. If you're UK based masterofmalt.com is a way to get the stuff you need (and is just an awesome site for booze). The basic 'absinthe + mead' mix (don't have anything strong and neutral enough to sub for the everclear) is delicious imo, a great drink. If you want to lengthen the drink (I've found it dangerously easy drinking given its abv) adding soda water works well, though this does make the aniseed flavour from the absinthe more forward.
