Welcome to Harlequins "Unit of the Week" series.

Each week a different unit will appear, with the idea being that we discuss how best to use that model on the battlefield. This series will focus on Codex entries initially. If/when we exhaust those possibilities, we will start looking at Forgeworld and Legends if people are interested in those units.

These threads are not to discuss proposed changes to units or long complaints about poor behaviour. I would like to keep them constructive and focus on making the best use of the units as they stand. Inevitably there is going to be some overlapping of battlefield roles. For this reason, I will allow comparisons against other units that fill similar roles provided the posts remain primarily focused on the unit under discussion.

Mentioning other units in the context of synergies and army building is of course permitted (even encouraged). This week's entry are:

Harlequin Troupes

What are you thoughts here folks? How best would you use these guys?

  • To compliment a list, or to build a list around?
  • Will you be running multiple units?
  • Which weapon options are you taking and are they affects by the above?
  • Are you buffing this unit? If so, how?
  • Stratagems of note?
Over to you.

Should you want your model on display here (or on another thread from the series), then submit a photo here please.

Never played with them but, as I understand, a soaring spite troup with fusion pistols and a starweaver can do some work. I would be interested to know if anyone has experience of this? I'm painting up a full troupe of soaring spite and have modelled a 5 player squad and a TM for this role.

Surely Harlequins need to double battalion with troupes now as we need all the CPs we can get.

So, are 4-5 fusion pistol soaring spite builds still the best?

Are caresses the no brainier they were 6 months ago or are kisses now worth a thought?

For me I’m going 3x5 soaring spite with 2-3 fusion and caresses - also getting 2x6 Skyweavers for the move, advance & shoot with no -1. Then a second battalion of 3x5 shuriken & kiss (prob frozen stars). All in Starweavers if possible. Not sold on footslogging them with T3 nor tempted to go with 10-12 on foot.
