mactire Posted April 30, 2020 Share Posted April 30, 2020 After almost completing the Third Great Company, of Erik Morkai, I have embarked on building the Iron Wolves. According to the old fluff they consisted of packs in Rhino's and Razorbacks cutting off the enemy who were then cut down by the Tanks. As Egil IronWolf has perished I will now be completing the Company under the new Wolf Lord (whose name I just forgot). Here are two Predators I've just finished Some crew close ups And this is where I am with Armoured and Mobile units at present A HelFrost Vindicator, 3 Predators, 2 LandSpeeders and 8 TWC (counts as) led by an Iron Priest on CyberWolf. Bryan Blaire Posted April 30, 2020 Share Posted April 30, 2020 IIRC, didn’t the new Wolf Lord perish as well, and now there’s a new, new Wolf Lord for them, and we don’t know if he’s are actually the permanent one and is properly installed? I only say that because in the future the Iron Wolves might cease and be replaced by a new Great Company. Damn fine wall of tanks and outriders there! I like the wolves loping alongside the bikes! Do you still run them as just bikes, or attack bikes? The Bikes are actually Counts-as TWC, as I'm not a big fan of the "Marines on horseback image". The Wolf alongside counts as the 2nd wound. Have a lot more tanks in the pipeline to add as well along with about 30/40 troops already painted which I didn't bother including until I've completed their Transports. (I forgot to comment on that the first time) I've always envisioned the Iron Wolves as having a lot of Mk3 armor plating merged on top of more advanced armor under-lays, can't wait to see your guys and how you painted them up. I never liked thunderwolves either and these make WAY more sense to me (wolf guard who are out hunting with their wolves - not riding them). EDIT - Just noticed the helfrost vindicator too. I dont mind 1 or 2 dudes riding their wolfbuddy (the named characters for example) but the entire units of them never worked for me. Thats a great solution. Also fitted out the Pack with their PGTM shoulder pads at last. Have ordered 3 more Razorbacks/Rhinos and 2 Predators to completed the Light Armour for the Company and this is the collection of Bling I'm gathering to kit out all of the Iron Wolves Tanks when I'm finally done.
