My intent currently is to use the Flaming Drakes squad from ArtelW.

Found here: https://artelw.com/Flaming-Drakes-Squad-male-warriors-p144581422

And here: https://artelw.com/Flaming-Drakes-Squad-female-warriors-p144581603

And the Flaming Drake Prime as Fuegan.

Found here: https://artelw.com/Flaming-Drake-Prime-p144581582

And of course a dedicated Wave Serpent in matching colors.

I figure the bodysuit under the armor should be easy enough with bright orange and I intend to use Green Stuff Worlds Burning Gold colorshift paint on the plate sections of the models armor. Maybe Turbo Dorks Ground is Lava on the raised edges of said armor and the detailing of said armor. Follow suit with this on the Wave Serpent.

EDIT: My test models for this project will be some classic 2nd edition metal Fire Dragons and Fuegan and a 3rd or 4th edition Falcon.

This will be a nostalgia project commemorating my oldest foe and the history of the Eldar army i some how managed to own.

EDIT 2: A further note on this project, I won't be building it to any form of legality, at least not intentionally. If i do follow any constructive ruling it would be closer to 3rd edition as that is when this army and i became....acquainted.

I've finally started buying the items for this project and i have a follow-up question for anyone who's dealt with bright yellow before:

Army Painter Demonic Yellow

Or

Tamiya Ps-6 Yellow

https://www.google.c...l:1,prmr:1,cs:1

Which would you say gives the better yellow?

I've received a suggestion to use the Tamiya Ps-6 from the Eldar forum so I'll grab a can of that.

Now, I've seen that these color shift paints suggest a gloss black undercoat, this means I'll have to get some and test the two methods.

That said, I'm noticing that gloss black is a somewhat difficult thing to come by when it comes to painting detail models. However I've found some, mainly Tamiya, and i need to ask if anyone has experience with or suggestions a to which might work better for this project.

To clarify somewhat: Tamiya has several gloss black paints, (Ts40 Metallic Black and Ts14 Black are the first two examples that Google shows me), what type of gloss should i perhaps consider for this project?

If you have an airbrush you can add gloss varnish to your black, or do a thin coat after.

I used these paints on an Daughters of Khaine Avatar (from the Cauldron of Blood) and the larger the area you apply them over the better they look, using an airbrush also makes a massive difference for smooth coats.

For smaller areas like Eldar Aspect Warrior armour panels I'd seriously consider doing a single test model first, it may not have the effect you're looking for.

Rik

I'll be using the old brush and pot method which is why I'm inquiring towards spray cans for as much of this as i can.

@ Rik: I would be incredibly thrilled to see any WIP or completed miniature pics you might have or any other tips and advice from your encounter with these paints.

EDIT: I'm preparing to learn that I'll need to base coat in gloss black then layer up the brighter color before re-basing the armored area in gloss black again then layering up the darker color.

EDIT 2: I have plenty of old Eldar lying around to test paint schemes on and a big'ol jug of simple green for those schemes that just don't work out.

I'm not too worried about the aspect warrior armor not showing off perfectly, if i can get AN effect to show on the aspect warriors then mission accomplished. Between Artel W's incredible Fuegan proxy and squad and the accompanying Wave Serpent I'll be building for this squad I THINK I can make this work. But of course as i specified previously there will be some old actual fire dragons getting test painted.
