Zephaniah Adriyen
So, I've done up some decal work for my Wolves. However, as a result of using 'Ardcoat for the varnish - and, by the way, this was an expected outcome, but I'm looking to fix it - the pauldrons are all shiny. I'm wondering if, since Lahmian Medium's got a satin finish like regular GW paints, it could be used as a finishing coat over the 'Ardcoat to return the satin finish to the Averland Sunset/Agrax Earthshade colors underneath. BadgersinHills
I think it works. Never tried it myself, though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363740-lahmian-medium-as-a-finishvarnish/#findComment-5518485 Share on other sites
Skywrath
I'm curious to hear about this as well. I seem to run into issues when I use nuln oil on top of stormhost silver as a general glaze. Would Lahriman medium work on lighter colours, such as stormhost silver? No Foes Remain
You need the technical Stormshield. That's the matt/satin varnish that will give you the finish you want and its also the one I use on my models. Edit: Here's Peachy using it on a stormcast model: Edited May 8, 2020 by No Foes Remain Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363740-lahmian-medium-as-a-finishvarnish/#findComment-5518572 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
I'm wondering if, since Lahmian Medium's got a satin finish like regular GW paints, it could be used as a finishing coat over the 'Ardcoat to return the satin finish to the Averland Sunset/Agrax Earthshade colors underneath. Darren Latham uses it for this matting down gloss finishes, so I'm going with "yes" (or you could just varnish the model with matt/satin varnish when it's finished :)) Edited May 8, 2020 by Firedrake Cordova Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363740-lahmian-medium-as-a-finishvarnish/#findComment-5518625 Share on other sites
Brother Casman
I generally use 'Ardcoat to make a nice surface for a decal, apply the decal, go back over the decal with 'Ardcoat, then go over the whole thing with Lahmian Medium. As an example, here's a top-down shot of my Imperial Knight (from a couple years ago). The finish might look slightly different in bright lights, but ymmv.
