So, I've done up some decal work for my Wolves. However, as a result of using 'Ardcoat for the varnish - and, by the way, this was an expected outcome, but I'm looking to fix it - the pauldrons are all shiny. I'm wondering if, since Lahmian Medium's got a satin finish like regular GW paints, it could be used as a finishing coat over the 'Ardcoat to return the satin finish to the Averland Sunset/Agrax Earthshade colors underneath.

You need the technical Stormshield. That's the matt/satin varnish that will give you the finish you want and its also the one I use on my models.

Edit: Here's Peachy using it on a stormcast model:

Darren Latham uses it for this matting down gloss finishes, so I'm going with "yes" (or you could just varnish the model with matt/satin varnish when it's finished :))

I generally use 'Ardcoat to make a nice surface for a decal, apply the decal, go back over the decal with 'Ardcoat, then go over the whole thing with Lahmian Medium. As an example, here's a top-down shot of my Imperial Knight (from a couple years ago).

The finish might look slightly different in bright lights, but ymmv.
