Now looking at the Forgeworld offerings for some of the legions, it's painfully obvious that once something's gone, it's gone.

But what's the average lifespan of these models? For how long will the new DA models be available? When will the Space Wolves' models go on LCTB?

Looks to be 3-5 years...

It all depends if it sells, the mold doesn't break, and if its necessary for it to exist. But I have no idea where you got that 3-5 year span? None actual Legion specific models have ever gone LCTB since the game started in 2012, only upgrades like torsos, various shoulder pads and door upgrades. The only exception being the Iron Hands Contemptor whos mold broke a while back, a model which has recently gone back into production after they got a new mold.

If it sells even somewhat well, FW will keep it in stock and keep making more. Take a look at Krieg for example who have been around for longer than a decade, not to mention some other Imperial Guard models that they have been selling since Forgeworld's started.

Legion specific models for the most parts sells pretty well so I'd expect to see it on the store for a good long while longer, far more than 5 years.

Iirc GW wants to completely abandon resin kits in the future. This plan probably includes Forge World. So I'm guessing when FW launches their Warhammer Fantasy revival in a few years it'll be all plastic, and that's when the rest of their range will either be ditched or re-done in plastic.
